Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Land Reclamation Specialist to join our team. The successful candidate will focus on mine closure projects, aiming to rehabilitate lands disturbed by industrial activities.

The role involves assessing environmental damage, developing comprehensive restoration plans, and leading efforts to stabilize soil, improve water quality, and reintroduce native flora and fauna.

The Reclamation Specialist will collaborate with scientists, engineers, and regulatory bodies to ensure projects comply with environmental regulations and contribute to ecosystem preservation.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Environmental Assessment : Conduct thorough evaluations of areas impacted by mining and industrial activities to determine environmental impacts and reclamation needs.
  • Restoration Planning : Develop detailed reclamation plans tailored to specific ecosystems, focusing on soil stabilization, water remediation, and revegetation.
  • Regulatory Compliance : Ensure all reclamation activities adhere to federal, state, and local environmental regulations, securing necessary permits and approvals.
  • Project Management : Lead the implementation of reclamation projects, managing resources efficiently to complete tasks on schedule and within budget.
  • Ecosystem Restoration : Implement methods to reintroduce native plants, rehabilitate wildlife habitats, and restore natural ecosystems on disturbed lands.
  • Soil and Water Improvement : Utilize techniques to mitigate soil erosion, enhance soil health, and improve water quality in reclamation areas.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration : Work with government agencies, community organizations, and other stakeholders to align reclamation efforts with community interests and environmental goals.
  • Monitoring and Adaptation : Oversee reclamation projects, evaluate their success, and make necessary adjustments to meet project objectives.
  • Education and Training : Promote environmental stewardship by advising and training property owners, businesses, and the public on best practices for land use and reclamation.
  • Continuous Learning : Stay informed about advancements in reclamation technologies and methodologies, integrating innovative practices to enhance project outcomes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Ecology, Natural Resource Management, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in land reclamation or a related field.
  • Proven experience in land reclamation, particularly in mine closure projects.
  • Strong knowledge of environmental regulations and permitting processes.
  • Proficiency in developing and implementing restoration plans.
  • Excellent project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with soil treatment, water remediation, and native plant reintroduction techniques.
  • Ability to conduct environmental assessments and interpret ecological data.
