Laboratory Technician

Job scope: We are looking for lab technicians to support the Microbiology department.

*6 months contract-to-hire*

Sample Collection and Preparation:

• Collecting and labeling samples such as blood, urine, tissue, and other body fluids for microbiological testing.
• Preparing specimens for examination by staining, culturing, and isolating bacteria or other microorganisms.

Performing Tests and Experiments:

• Conducting routine microbiological tests including bacterial cultures, susceptibility testing, and identification of pathogens.
• Using various laboratory techniques such as PCR (Polymerase Chain Reaction), ELISA (Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay), and microscopy.

Laboratory Equipment Maintenance:

• Operating and maintaining laboratory equipment such as autoclaves, incubators, microscopes, and spectrophotometers.
• Performing routine calibration and preventive maintenance on laboratory instruments.

Data Recording and Analysis:

• Accurately recording data and observations from experiments and tests.
• Analyzing results and preparing detailed reports for review by senior scientists or lab supervisors.

Quality Control and Compliance:

• Implementing quality control procedures to ensure accuracy and reliability of test results.
• Ensuring compliance with laboratory safety protocols and regulatory standards.

Requirements:

• Basic understanding of hands-on Microbiology experiments
• Academic background in the Microbiology/ Biology or related disciplines
• Work experience in a Microbiology laboratory preferred
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office
• Patient, attend to details and is able to follow SOPs
• Bachelor's degree in Microbiology, Biochemistry, Biology, or related field
