Description

POSITION SUMMARY

The Department Clerk provides clerical support activities for the departmentincluding, but not limited to the timely and efficient processes of all Hospital Patient Billing (HPB)documents, ensuring quality at all times.

Will assist with special projects as assigned.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

Education / Licensure / Certification :

High School graduate or equivalent required.

Knowledge :

One year of previous experience in a clerical, medical records or healthcare business office setting required.

Requires working knowledge of basic Microsoft Office (i.e. Excel & Word), prefer intermediate experience.

Previous experience with scanning / imaging equipment and in quality control strongly preferred.

Skills :

Must have good written and oral communication skills, typing and telephone skills.

Must have excellent manual dexterity

Must possess the ability to multi-task and reprioritize workload in order to meet deadlines.

Data entry, ten-key skills, basic filing, alphabetic, numeric and basic math skills are required.

Ability to make reasonable independent decisions in the absence of immediate direct supervision that stay within hospital and department guidelines

Works as a team player assisting co-workers during periods of peak workloads and short staffing
