The employee must have sufficient strength and agility to move, lift, and secure students in child safety restraint systems weighing up to 50 pounds and assist students in entering and exiting the bus in routine and emergency situations. The driver must be able to perform any required emergency evacuation functions to include, but not limited to, entering and exiting the school bus. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close, distance, and peripheral vision and the ability to adjust focus and discern colors.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk, sit, stand, twist, use hands to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear. The employee must be able to smell smoke, fuel, and other odors.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee may work near moving mechanical parts. The employee is exposed to various weather conditions to include, but not limited to, wet and/or humid and cold/hot weather conditions. Also, the employee may be exposed to fumes and airborne particles, as well as minor vibration.
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.
The school bus driver operates a school bus to transport students safely to and from schools and their authorized bus stop locations. The driver is responsible for performing driving functions safely and efficiently and remains at the assigned standby location when not on an assignment. The driver may be assigned a run or set of runs on a temporary basis. The school bus driver provides transportation service for students on extracurricular events. The driver operates the bus in compliance with School Division policies and regulations, Transportation Department oral or written instructions, and state laws. The driver performs related tasks as assigned or required and conducts scheduled emergency bus evacuation drills on emergency exit procedures.
