Description:
This position is for a Virtualization Engineer supporting the US Army. The AECC solution is a hyperconverged, multitenant private cloud hosting environment for hosting Army enterprise and tactical applications. AECC is utilizing the full suite of VMware products (ESXi, vSAN, NSX, vCloud Foundations, ARIA Automation, Tanzu) to implement a Software Defined Data Center (SDDC) across multiple global sites. ALTESS provides value added common and managed services built on top of the VMware foundation, that hosted Army applications will require. Our client is a managed service provider (MSP) and hosting services provider for Army applications. ALTESS is a Product Director office under Program Executive Office Enterprise Information Systems (PEO EIS).
Position Duties:
Work with Government engineers to develop and maintain the AECC architecture.
Develop, deploy, and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) for deployment and sustainment of the VMware suite of products in the AECC.
As applications are hosted on the AECC solution, utilize IaC for the provisioning of the customer enclaves.
Provide daily administration of the VMware products to include patching and upgrading of all VMware components.
Monitor utilization of all virtualization resources and notify the AECC lead when additional resources will be required.
Harden the VMware products per commercial best practices and the required government cybersecurity controls.
Troubleshooting and root cause analysis of any hosting platform issues.
Develop and maintain system, infrastructure, and process documentation (system diagrams, network topology, software configurations, device configurations, standard operating procedures).
Provide on-call support for triage and resolution of after-hours production incidents.
Make recommendations for improvements to security, scalability, manageability, and performance across a wide variety of network, storage, and compute services and technologies.
