330Talent is Hiring a Dentist Near Reading, PA

***Prior experience as a Dentist in an FQHC setting is required

330Talent has been contracted to fill an important role with a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) located in Reading, PA. The position provides clinical dental services and preventive dental care and supervises the Dental Assistants/Hygienists/EFDA and collaborates with the Public Health Dental Hygienist for the health center.

Our client is Berks Community Health Center, headquartered in Reading, PA. They are seeking a Dentist with interest in a future role as Dental Director. Their website can be found here: https://www.berkschc.net/.

Berks Community Health Center (BCHC) has been providing services as an FQHC since June 2012 and provides a full range of primary care and preventive services for adult and pediatric patients on-site. BCHC has provided care to 56,128 unduplicated patients through 304,491 visits since its founding. It attracts not only patients from Reading, but also from all parts of Berks and surrounding counties. The health center operates out of four sites and a mobile van, and offers a robust set of services including medical, dental, behavioral health, and several specialty services including podiatry, optometry, chiropractic, and obstetrics.

For the fiscal year dated 11/15/2022 for their fiscal year ending 12/31/2021 they reported total revenue of nearly $23 million and net assets of over $14 million. They employ approximately 250 FTEs and have over $6M in government grant revenues.

The position reports to BCHC Chief Executive Officer, Mary Kargbo, who joined the organization in October of 2012 as CEO. The salary range for the position will be between $160K to $175K depending upon experience. They are offering relocation assistance for the position, depending upon the distance involved.

Reading is the county seat of Berks County, located in southeastern Pennsylvania. According to the 2020 census the city has a population of just over 95,000 people and is the fourth largest city in Pennsylvania. Reading is part of the Philadelphia metropolitan area with a population of over 6 million.

Reading is located 38.8 miles southwest of Allentown and 62.9 miles northwest of Philadelphia.

Reading was one of the first localities where outlet shopping became a tourist industry. It has been known as "The Pretzel City" because numerous local pretzel bakeries are based in the city and its suburbs; currently, Bachman, Dieffenbach, Tom Sturgis, and Unique Pretzel bakeries call the Reading area home. In recent years, the Reading area has become a destination for cyclists with more than 125 miles of trails in five major preserves; the region is an International Mountain Bicycling Association ride center.

Large employers based in Reading and surrounding communities include Boscov's, EnerSys, Carpenter, Penske Truck Leasing, and Redner's Markets. Jump Start Incubator, a program of Berks County Community Foundation, and Berks LaunchBox, a project of Penn State Berks, are programs intended to provide office space and support to entrepreneurs in the area. The city's cultural institutions include the Reading Symphony Orchestra and its education project the Reading Symphony Youth Orchestra, the Reading Choral Society, Opus One: Berks Chamber Choir, Berks Sinfonietta Chamber Orchestra, Vox Philia Chamber Choir, the GoggleWorks Art Gallery, the Reading Public Museum and the Historical Society of Berks County. Reading is the birthplace of graphic artist Jim Steranko, guitar virtuoso Richie Kotzen, novelist and poet John Updike, and poet Wallace Stevens. Marching band composer and writer John Philip Sousa, the March King, died in Reading's Abraham Lincoln Hotel in 1932. Artist Keith Haring was born in Reading.

While precise numbers are difficult to obtain and evaluate, according to Sperling’s Best Places Reading has an overall cost of living index that is a bit lower (6 percentage points) than the US national average; this is reflected in generally lower housing costs as well, which are more than 20 percentage points lower than the national average.

This value assumes you are a homeowner with no childcare expenses, and it provides relative weights to housing costs (30%), food and grocery (15%), transportation (10%), utility (6%), healthcare (7%), and other expenses (32%). Any state and local taxes are omitted from this calculation, but according to the non-profit Tax Foundation Pennsylvania has a flat income tax rate of 3.07% on all income and a state-wide sales tax rate of 6.00%.
