General Job Summary The activities assistants will conduct the recreational, social, religious and educational programs for all residents of the facility. This will include activities for those individuals who are bedridden and unable to attend group functions.
Qualifications Education: Must have at least a high school diploma or its equivalent.
Continuing Education Requirements: Continuing education from workshops and seminars will be expected as part of the position.
Most fees and expenses for this education will be paid for by the facility.
Work Experience: Previous experience conducting recreational and other types of programs for groups and individuals is preferred but not required. Other types of life experiences may be substituted for this position.
Environment - Exposure to general resident care environment
- Exposure to moderate temperature variations
- Substantive exposure to pharmacological preparations, potential biohazard materials including blood and other bodily fluids
- Moderate exposure to cleaning solutions, perfumes, dyes, etc..
- Extended hours may be required
- Moderate noise levels
- Very frequent work interruptions
- Work in groups or teams required
Duties and Responsibilities The following are duties essential for the Activities Assistant Position:
- This person will conduct well balanced programs for all residents of the facility. Such programs will provide for the religious, social, recreational and educational needs of the residents
- Provide a therapeutic environment designed to enhance the mental and physical well being of the resident
- This person is responsible for maintaining a positive contact with the local community, which would include working with community leaders in the activities of the facility and working with outside groups and individuals to conduct events and activities in the facility
- Attends in-service meetings
- Respects Resident's Rights
- Follow all facility safety rules and guidelines
- Comply with laws governing Protected Health Information
- Comply with Adult Abuse Policy
- No access to Protected Health Information
