Thomas Edwards Group Inc. is Hiring a Part-Time Controller Near Richardson, TX

CONTRACT: Part-Time Controller 9635Our client, located in Richardson, is looking for a Part-Time Controller to join their team on a contract basis for the next 6 months, with the possibility of contract-to-hire.
This role would be 3-4 days per week.
Key Qualifications
  • Must be an expert at full-cycle general ledger accounting, including month-end close, journal entries, reviewing and issuing financial statements, GAAP compliance, AP, and AR.
  • Experience with revenue recognition is required.
  • Experience with inventory management and accounting is ideal.
  • Must be willing to be hands-on with all aspects of the accounting, including the transactional accounting.
  • Experience with NetSuite is required.
  • Must be skilled at pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, and HLOOKUPs in Excel.
Summary/ObjectiveThe Controller directs accounting policies and procedures; creates, prepares and audits various financial analyses of operations, including interim and final financial statements with supporting schedules. The Controller is responsible for the timely submittal of financial statements, passing audits, collections management, and cash flow.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
  • General responsibility for company adherence to GAAP accounting procedures with experience and knowledge of full cycle accounting.
  • Maintains a documented system of accounting policies and procedures; implements a system of controls over accounting transactions to minimize risk.
  • Organization and maintenance of general and subsidiary ledgers, revenue recognition, accounts receivable, revenue distribution, depreciation, cost, property, and operating expenses.
  • Recommends benchmarks that will be used to measure the company’s performance.
  • Perform month-end close responsibilities such as journal entries, account reconciliations, reporting, and analysis.
  • Experience with fixed assets, prepaids, treasury, deferred rent/lease accounting, debt/interest expense, sales/use tax, AR/AP accounting and reconciliation practices.
  • Accurate and timely preparation of monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial statements, including Balance Sheets, Profit & Loss statements, Cash Flow and various detailed analyses reports; review same with CEO and management personnel, as appropriate.
  • Analyze expenses and assists in preparation of annual budget; enter and maintain budget details in accounting software for monthly budget vs. actual P&L comparisons.
  • Continually review and make suggestions for improvements to accounting systems and processes.
  • Perform analysis of and build financial models for new business growth areas, including potential acquisitions.
  • Track and report local, state, and federal tax returns.
  • Coordinate month-end and year-end closing process; prepare all reconciliations and spreadsheets/work papers to assist outside auditors in their annual audit.
  • Serve as backup for payroll processing.
  • Oversee and manage 3-4 person accounting team to include Staff Accountant, Accounts Payable, and Accounts Receivable positions.
Required Skills/Abilities
  • Excellent management and supervisory skills.
  • Superior verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, able to set priorities effectively.
  • Proficient in accounting and tax preparation software.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.
  • Expert level proficiency in Excel (formulas, pivot tables, V&H Lookups, etc.)
  • Knowledge and experience of accounting computer applications (Oracle NetSuite proficiency highly preferred).
  • Knowledge of applicable laws, codes, and regulations, especially Texas laws.
  • Ability to maintain composure and work well under pressure.
Education And Experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or related field required.
  • 10 years or more of related experience required.
  • Certified Public Accountant or Certified Management Accountant designation preferred.
