Biomea Fusion Inc. is Hiring a Research Associate Near San Carlos, CA

Position Summary:

We are seeking a Research Associate to join our Biology team. The Researcher will be a bench scientist conducting hands-on studies to enable drug discovery with a wide range of technical skills in cell biology, molecular biology, and biochemistry. This person will be expected to complete several in vitro experiments and to work as part of a team on varied projects with changing priorities. This position requires an excellent ability to plan and carry out experiments independently, analyze, and interpret the results of studies.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Ability to work independently in the laboratory.
  • Maintain mammalian cell cultures and perform growth curves.
  • Screen molecules (small molecules, antibodies) for activity in cell-based and biochemical assays in high throughput format (96 well and 384-well).
  • Set up and perform cell-proliferation assays, apoptosis assays, protein analysis (WB), gene expression analysis, etc. with cell lines to profile molecules.
  • Perform initial analysis of experimental data and interpret immediate outcomes.
  • Contribute to the development of novel assays.
  • Troubleshoot routine technical problems and perform ordinary/extraordinary equipment maintenance.
  • Demonstrate clear communication and present scientific results in department meetings.
  • Order and maintain reagents and lab supplies.
  • Keep organized data and experimental records.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • BS/MS/ in biological sciences or related field with 2-5 years industry experience.
  • Proficient in cell culture, including handling a variety of solid and liquid tumor cell lines.
  • Experienced in cell-based and biochemical in screening format (96- and 384-well).
  • Hands on experience with automation and automated liquid dispensing.
  • Experienced in qRT-PCR, Western Blot and ELISA.
  • Proficiency in FACS preferred.
  • Proficiency with PRISM and Microsoft Office.

Compensation:

The expected salary range for this role is $86,000 to $95,000 for Research Associate/. An individual’s position within the range may be influenced by multiple factors, including skills and experience in role, overall performance, individual impact and contributions, tenure, and market dynamics. Base salary is one part of the overall total rewards program, which includes competitive cash compensation, including discretionary bonus program, equity awards and comprehensive benefits program.
