LOCATION: Santa Barbara
FLSA EMPLOYMENT CLASSIFICATION: Exempt
DIRECT REPORTS: Automated Side Loader Driver, Front End Loader Driver, Rear Loader Driver, PUP Collections Driver, Co-Drivers and Helpers
Full-Time /Onsite Annual Pay $80,000 - $96,000 We set our pay based on several factors including knowledge, experience, certification and location. Combined with our rich competitive benefit package and the rewarding work we do for the environment make MarBorg a great place to work!POSITION SUMMARY:The Route Supervisor supports the Franchise Residential and/or the Commercial waste collection department to ensure compliance of company's policies and safety procedures by ensuring the activities of all drivers and co-drivers to be safe and efficient while providing excellent service to all customers.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include but are not limited to the following: Coaching/Developing:
  • Provide timely and consistent touchpoints with frontline employees.
  • Regular review of best practices to enhance daily performance.
  • Focus on understanding and progress of employee safety and productivity goals.
  • Identify and address improvement opportunities to ensure continued success.
  • Actively practice and document coaching conversations.
Efficiency:
  • Establish productivity goals, ensure adherence to operating standards; and optimize labor utilization, manage hours and unnecessary overtime expenses per agreed plans/goals.
  • Lead drivers to meet and exceed productivity goals and expectations for all routes.
  • Daily and Weekly analysis of all Routes to improve load balance of stops/bins, maximize density and improve efficiency.
  • Reduce route hours to the extent possible with techniques such as load balancing, service frequency and container right-sizing (size and quantity).
  • Execute all operational plans to help achieve or exceed the division’s budgeted goals..
  • Operational support may include driving company vehicles in other departments in order to complete the day’s work if necessary, including, but not limited to Roll-Off, Walking Floor and delivery trucks of waste receptacles.
Performance Management:
  • Conducts root cause and detailed investigations for all injuries and incidents, ensuring consistent discipline and retraining. Post-incident ride-along and detailed summary of discussion.
  • Daily review and audits of documentation related to route operations (e.g., Logs, driver times, attendance, open or incomplete paperwork submission and disposal tickets), following up where appropriate to validate route benchmarks are factual and fully optimized each day of the week.
  • Visit and resolve customers issues, perform customer on-site checks to resolve safety issues and service issues, offering alternatives agreeable to both Customer and MarBorg Industries.
  • Lead by example to ensure safety practices, policies and code of conduct remain paramount with each employee.
  • Teaching and developing an understanding of safe truck operation, procedures, and policies.

  • Build and develop talent on the team, understand employees’ career goals and provide coaching to get employees ready for advancement with the Company.
  • Create a collaborative, communicative team environment and drive employee engagement with the Company.
  • Perform other job-related duties as needed or assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIESOversees the activities of Franchise Residential and/or Commercial. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include training employees; planning, assigning, observing & auditing routes and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Be an influential leader with a positive can-do attitude.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Minimum two years in prior leadership or supervisory experience. Strong knowledge of the waste management industry a plus.
  • A results-driven Supervisor who will support your team, managers, and customers.
  • Strong critical-thinking skills and a proactive problem solver.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Scheduling, personnel management, and training.
  • Ability to multi-task with strong organizational skills.
  • Computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Valid driver’s license, Class B with air brakes a plus.
  • Tackle tough technical problems, but also collaborate and evangelize best practices across teams.
EDUCATION High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and two to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
