Role: Full-Time Parts Advisor with benefitsLocation: Sheldon, Iowa Facility: Drenkow Motors : Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, Ram and Ford At Drenkow Motors our parts department shares a critical role in our certified service and dealership operations. We are looking to add a Parts Manager to our team. In this role you'll help our customers and internal departments with their parts needs. Come join our team of people who help make a difference!
Job Duties For The Parts Advisor Include
  • Greets customers in a timely, friendly manner and obtains vehicle information.
  • Provides customers and departments with information about accessory parts and specials.
  • Answers telephone calls, indicates prices and provides any other information.
  • Ensures that internal requests for parts are invoiced on the after-sales department work order.
  • Assists in parts physical inventory and regular cycle counts
  • Evaluates the quality of parts ordered for inventory
  • Reviews, processes, and follow up on all service parts(Shop orders)
  • Bill out parts invoices
  • Serves as backup for the computer entry of orders, preparation of invoices, and related admin. task
  • Supervises back parts counter, shipping and receiving.
  • Ensures that all the customers receive their copies of the invoices.
  • Receives credit for returned parts, ensuring that there is an initial invoice or invoice number, in order to confirm the purchase and the price.
  • Keeps files organized containing work orders, invoices, insurance estimates and specially ordered parts.
  • Establishes “promised time.” Checks with manager, when necessary.
  • Obtains customer's signature on repair order; provides customer with a copy.
  • Establishes customer's method of payment.
  • Replenishes assigned stock and receives freight orders. .
  • Organizes orders for shipping or delivery purposes, or for daily pickup.
  • Notifies the service manager of out-of-stock items or when shop equipment requires immediate attention.
  • Locates an external source for out-of-stock parts and places an urgent order, if necessary.
  • Notifies the service manager and the customer as soon as specially ordered parts come in.
  • Distributes parts and shop tools ordered by the technicians and follows up.
  • Keeps up-to-date on all new and improved parts and products.
  • Helps receive and inventory parts merchandise daily
  • Cooperates in keeping the parts department clean.
  • Maintains a professional appearance.
  • Performs other tasks, based on management requirements and instructions.
Desired Education & QualificationsHigh School diploma and years of work experience in sales and/or parts and service. Mechanical and technical aptitude is needed.
Desired Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Ability to learn how to operate a parts database system for both OEM and internal use
  • Ability to operate basic office equipment (i.e. phone, computer, copiers, printers, etc.)
  • Computer literate with basic keyboarding skills
  • Working knowledge Microsoft Word and Excel is needed
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills are essential.
  • Excellent customer service and organizational skills.
  • Ability to function well as a member of a team.
  • Working knowledge of the automobile industry and auto parts
  • Must be quality and safety conscious and maintain safe and sanitary working conditions.
  • Ability to maintain a presentable appearance & demeanor
