Education And/or Experience
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing as Registered Nurse
- Active State of Iowa (or compact agreement) nursing license
- Master's degree upon hire or satisfied completion within twenty four (24) months of hire and/or experience in managing multiple areas of focus simultaneously.
- Minimum three (3) years of experience in the assigned clinical area
- Previous experience in managing eight (8) or more professional employees required
- Active participation in organized shared governance structure
- Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of Iowa (or equivalent compact agreement)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) required upon completion of orientation
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required upon completion of orientation
- Interdepartmental certification required within six months of position acceptance including one or more of the following; TNCC, NIMS, CCRN, MEDSURG-BC, CNOR, CAPA, CPAN, BCEN, RNC-OB or comparable certification.

- Demonstrated initiative, teamwork and flexibility
- Basic PC skills
- Desire to perform at an exceptional level of engagement.
- Ability to facilitate a collaborative approach to challenging personnel issues
- Ability to calculate figures, add, subtract, multiply and divide
- Ability to generate, read, interpret, and take action as it relates to national and state regulations, operational and organizational policy/procedures
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form
- Ability to write reports and correspondence
- Ability to effectively present information
- Ability to work cooperatively and communicate effectively to maintain good working relationships
- Ability to work with skill in identifying problems; making frequent decisions regarding method of performance
- Ability to problem solve and lead others in the coordination of patient care
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to accomplish multiple tasks, ability to manage projects, and demonstrates time management skills.
