The Pathologists' Assistant is an allied health professional, qualified by academic and practical training to provide service in anatomic pathology under the direction and supervision of a qualified board-certified anatomic Pathologist.
The Pathologists' Assistant is responsible for performing the gross description and dissection of surgical specimens, or photograph specimens, p erforms frozen section procedures and participates in a variety of departmental activities and services;
in addition, to the planning, organization, and maintenance of the autopsy suite. The Pathologists' Assistant ensures that timely and accurate clinical diagnostic information is provided to healthcare professionals so that patient care and customer service is of the highest quality.

Responsibilities
Key Accountability
Luke's Emergency Incident Command System. Situations of a critical nature may require an individual to perform multiple tasks until additional support can be obtained.
Basic UPH Performance Criteria
Brings any questions or concerns regarding compliance to the immediate attention of hospital administrative staff. Takes appropriate action on concerns reported by department staff related to compliance

Education :
B accalaureate degree from a regionally accredited college / university, AND successful completion of a NAACLS accredited Pathologists' Assistant program within the last five years.
Experience :
Successful completion of a NAACLS accredited Pathologists' Assistant program within the last five years.
2 years of experience
License(s) / Certification(s) :
PA (ASCP) certification
Pathologists Assistant (ASCP)
Knowledge / Skills / Abilities :
Must be able to read, write, and speak fluent English.
Other :
Use of usual and customary equipment used to perform essential functions of the position.
