Under the direction of our Chief Financial Officer, the Billing Specialist will play a pivotal role in facilitating agency billing and administrative needs in our Smithfield, RI location. We are seeking an individual with a proven ability to manage and appropriately prioritize multiple, complex responsibilities, while effectively meeting departmental guidelines. The individual will be responsible for managing a high volume of billing activities and will demonstrate extensive expertise on all A/R policies, processes and systems while providing effective supports to our entire Finance team. We are seeking a candidate with strong business, technical and analytical discipline, as well as troubleshooting skills. This position interfaces heavily with program staff in our Smithfield location and requires strong Microsoft Excel/Word and written/oral communication skills. Must be highly organized, self-motivated, and detail-oriented with the ability to operate in a fast-paced environment

Job Responsibilities:

  • Participate in contract rate negotiations with partnered and state insurance companies
  • Ensure timely authorizations and re-authorizations with insurance companies or state programs
  • Data entry of client information, insurance details, and service codes into billing software
  • Create and maintain Excel spreadsheets for billing purposes
  • Utilize both electronic and paper records to perform billing tasks
  • Track current provider credentials and generate timely reports
  • Submit insurance claims to clearinghouses and/or insurance companies
  • Respond to inquiries from insurance companies, clients, and providers
  • Fiscal and administrative filing as needed
  • Maintain confidentiality in all fiscal matters
  • Assist with monthly and yearly financial reporting and audits
  • Collaborate with other departments to streamline operations and improve financial processes
  • Monitor compliance with financial regulations and company policies
  • Maintain a well-organized and easily accessible filing system for financial documents
  • Attend financial and administrative meetings, providing insights and updates
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Associates Degree in Accounting preferred, but not necessary.
  • At least two years of experience in a fast-paced office environment
  • Minimum of one year of accounting experience preferred
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, with a strong emphasis on Excel spreadsheets
  • Strong communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Proficiency in computer and accounting software
  • Ability to pass extensive background checks, including BCI, CORI, OIG, and driving record checks
Monday thru Friday, 8:30am-5:00pm
Full Time 40 hours per week
