Advises department representatives upon request based on experience and product knowledge. Aids departmental representatives in the preparation of request for purchase, preparation of specifications and justifications as required.; Work hours: Mon-Fri; 8 AM-5 PM or as work requirements indicate Responsibilities: -35% Responsible for preparation of formal and informal bid invitations including request for proposals and request for qualifications. Responsible for purchases of supplies and equipment. -25% Prepares specifications for competitive bids. Reviews vendor responses to competitive bidding. Awards contracts as per purchasing rules and procedures. Ensure best value or low bid is awarded appropriately -15% Provide advice and assistance on purchasing procedures to university departments. Ensure compliance with legislature, System and University policies and procedures. -10% Assist Manager, Purchasing and HUB with purchasing and HUB related issues including training. -5% Stays informed on the different cooperative purchasing programs and advises departments on the procedures when utilizing these programs. -5% Responsible for compliance for Historically Underutilized Business (HUB) requirements. Performs related duties as required. -5% Perform other related duties as assigned. Education and Experience: -Bachelors degree in applicable field or equivalent combination of education and experience. -Two years of related experience in procurement/purchasing. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: -Knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet applications. Knowledge of standard business terms and arithmetic. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Effective interpersonal and organizational skills. -Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others. Ability to provide exacting accuracy in all phases of work. Salary: Commensurate with experience The target base annual salary is $39,120 may be negotiable based on funding availability and candidate experience/skillset in relation to the minimum requirements of this position.
