**Overview:**

We are seeking a dedicated OB Financial Counselor to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in verifying insurance benefits and getting precert for services. Will review benefits and set up payment plans for estimated patient responsibility with all Obstetric patients.

**Responsibilities:**

- Contacts insurance company to get OB benefits and precert requirements.

- Calls all new obstetric patients to review financial responsibility; explain applicable benefits, co-pays, co-insurance and/or deductible to patient.

- Sets patient up on a pre payment plan for OB care and delivery.

- Obtains authorization for visits and delivery.

- Answer OB related phone calls and portal messages.

- Represents office in a professional manner. Treats all customers, internal and external, in a courteous and cooperative manner.

- Performs other duties as assigned

**Skills:**

- High school diploma or equivalent.

- Minimum two years authorization/referral experience in a medical office.

- Working knowledge of billing/insurance processes and guidelines.

- Ability to multi-task in a stressful, deadline-oriented environment.

- Ability to communicate with coworkers, providers and patients in an effective manner.

- Ability to use a computer and enter data in electronic medical record system.
