This job description is intended to be a broad description of duties. You will be asked to carry out all responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. The Night Auditor is responsible for balancing the revenue and expense transactions, which occur during the day at the hotel. Responsible for the overall operations and appearance of the front desk of a hotel. Responsible for attending to the needs of guests during the overnight hours as well as arrivals and departures. The night auditor is the number one, frontline person whose service determines a guest's experience.

Essential Job Responsibilities:

• Provide a first-rate guest experience.• Provide information to guests about hotel policies, services, and amenities.• Responding to requests from guests for assistance and information about the local area (e.g. directions, places to eat, etc.).• Selling and upselling rooms to “walk-in” guests.• Entering/changing reservation information in the property management system.• Posting charges to guest accounts.• Processing payments from guests.• Closing, balancing, and making necessary corrections to guest accounts.• Counting and balancing cash, credit cards, and direct bill accounts.• Preparing revenue dailies for accounting for the hotel.• Investigation or analyzing out-of-balance situations and making adjustments or corrections as needed.• Completing various computer audit reports.• Performing all the duties as outlined in the training manual.• Listening to or anticipating and responding to guest complaints.• Operating Hotel phones. Use established greetings when answering the phone or meeting guests in person. Speak with an attitude of warmth and friendliness. Find a way to say "yes" to their needs if you are reasonably able to do so. Look for ways to be helpful and courteous.• Cleaning the front desk and lobby area.• You are a part of the property’s security team and are responsible for reporting any potential safety or security hazards to management immediately.• Know all emergency procedures to follow and how to respond in the event of different types of emergencies.• Reliable attendance on all scheduled workdays.• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications/Knowledge:

• Must be highly detail-oriented• Must take constructive criticism and frequent coaching well• Must be able to accurately follow instructions, both verbally and written• Must be willing to ask for help and/or clarification• Must be able to adapt to changes in policy and/or procedures as directed and offer suggestions to improve operations.• Possess a valid driver’s license and the ability to successfully pass an MVR check.• Knowledge of Microsoft Office, basic typing skills and computer knowledge• Fluent in verbal and written English, other language skills preferred• Ability to work a flexible schedule including weekends, holidays, and evenings.

Work Environment:Must be able to be detail-oriented and stay focused overnight. Taos Ski Valley, Inc. is often a fast-paced work environment, especially during holidays and Peak days. TSVI is located in a high-altitude alpine environment. Position may require travel on uneven, snow-packed, or icy terrain and may be exposed to wet, cold, and/or humid conditions. Must be able to work in close quarters and with other staff.

Physical Demands of Position Include:Frequently lifting up to 25 pounds and occasionally lifting up to 50-75 pounds. Sitting approximately 60-70% of the time at a computer. Occasional walking, reaching and bending. This position will require individuals to be out in winter conditions 10% of the time.

Background Check:Positions dealing with children, of a safety-sensitive and/or confidential nature, require driving or positions that handle cash may require a background check and MVR check. Employment is contingent upon a favorable background check and MVR check.
