Special Education Paraprofessionals
Prefer someone with three years' experience in working with special needs students. Must have the ability to follow established policies, procedures, and protocols. Effective oral/written communication skills and be able to work cooperatively.
To work under the guidance of classroom teacher provider to assist with academics, feeding, and hygiene. Will assist by carrying out lesson plans correlated to individual goals and objectives that have been identified on each child's Individual Education Plan (IEP). Plans must be carried out in a caring and creative fashion. Good communication skills (written and verbal) as well as organizational skills required to maintain accurate records. Must be able to assist students with daily living skills including eating and toileting. Must have the ability to lift moderate weights and meet the expectations of a high needs classroom daily. A good attendance record is a must for consistency in delivering educational support to special needs students. Must keep appropriate documentation of services provided in accordance with school policy. Will accompany students to and from the classroom, and at times ride bus, in addition to the above classroom responsibilities.
