POSITION SUMMARY
The Ophthalmic Technician conduct measurements and tests that provides the Physician with the information needed to arrive at a diagnosis and to prescribe treatment. The Ophthalmic Technician is responsible for required documentation in compliance with the policies and provide excellent patient services.
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
Education: High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED). Bachelor’s degree in relevant discipline highly preferred.
Certificates & LicensesCertified Ophthalmic Assistant
Experience: 2-4 years of prior ophthalmic assistant experience
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES
Computer Skills
·Facile with Microsoft Products
·Within 4 weeks of hire must be facile with Athena PMS and practice based EMR
WORK ENVIRONMENTAn office environment with controlled atmosphere. Possible exposure to staff or patients with communicable diseases and blood borne pathogens.
Other Physical RequirementsVision (Near, Distance, Color, Peripheral, Depth Perception)
Sense of Sound (normal range of hearing and vision)
Ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) (gloves, face mask, eye shield, gown)
