North Carolina Dept of Health and Human Services is Hiring a Business Relations Representative (BRR) Near UNKNOWN, NC

Description of Work

This position is housed in the Kinston Satellite Office and works in conjunction with the BRR housed in the Greenville Unit Office. The chosen applicant will lead the Dual Customer Approach (DCA) initiative in the Kinston Satellite Office. The employee will meet with area employers and community resources to market VR services to establish ongoing relationships resulting in successful placements of consumers with disabilities and learn about their businesses and hiring needs. Make formal or informal presentations to the business community, civic organizations, local community leaders, Chamber of Commerce leaders, and others; participate in job fairs, business expos and attend local activities. The goal of these activities is to market VR services, increase community awareness, learn about new opportunities for placement and obtain consumer referrals. Coordinate or conduct business/facility tours for counselors, vocational evaluators, and others to understand job duties and work environments. Applicant will analyze local labor markets, keep staff apprised of new business developments, shifts in labor market/job needs, market trends, and related activities.
Other duties include teaching Employment Marketing Skills classes to assigned consumers in groups or one on one to ensure job readiness, assist with resume development and application completion, enhancement of interviewing skills and job retention. Provide consumers on when/how to discuss their disability and needed accommodations. Provide verbal and written feedback and recommendations to referring counselors regarding consumer progress. Meet with counselors on a regular basis to staff the status of referred consumers. Present a report at monthly staff meetings. Assist with coordination of internship opportunities. Work with transition (school) students, providing services to include developing job search skills direct job placement and other related services to assist with the transition from school to work. Collaborate with local job coaches to coordinate services for mutual consumers. May provide casework and administrative support to counselors. Staff with the Vocational Evaluator to determine consumer’s vocational strengths, weaknesses, and interests. Provide training to employers, staff, service providers in the community to increase awareness of VR, Disabilities, sensitivity, and other related topics. Conduct research to various disability types for purpose of learning about limitations and/or accommodations that may be needed for consumers to be employed. Research efforts will also include unusual or unique job goals to learn more about essential functions and if consumers can be trained or accommodated for such roles. Applicant will be required to document service provision utilizing progress review document expected to perform a variety of administrative tasks that includes establishing and updating databases, serving on committees or workgroups, and various other special projects as well as tasks as assigned by the Unit Manager. Partner with the local NC Works staff. Analyze employment trends and local job market to prepare consumers for employment.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

Bachelors degree in a human services or business field such as human resources, marketing, business administration, business management, healthcare management, or public administration from an appropriately accredited institution;
OR
Associate s degree in a human services or business field (identified above) from an appropriately accredited institution and two years of directly related work experience;
OR
High school or General Educational Development (GED) and four years of directly related work experience;
OR
an equivalent combination of education and experience.
