Itron Careers is Hiring an Automation Engineer (West Union, SC) Near Union, SC

The Sr. Automation Engineer will be developing, specifying, implementing and maintaining both manual and automated processes in the manufacture or fabrication of parts, components, sub-assemblies and final assemblies. The selected candidate should be able to show and demonstrable capability with robotic and PLC based control systems; Will support MOL, NPI and cost savings initiatives with the use of automated systems.

 

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Maintain, improve and upgrade automation systems including PLC and robotic systems
  • Concise communication of technical information to technical and non-technical audiences
  • Program and modify existing programs on Fanuc and Staubli robotic systems
  • Initiate changes on major components.
  • Recognize the effect of changes on related components.
  • Review and analyze existing production lines, tools, processes, standards and techniques.
  • Resolve in depth manufacturing and process equipment problems.
  • Specify and procure new equipment to support new automated systems.
  • Maintain updated work instructions and procedures.
  • Recommend and implement process and product changes to improve safety, quality, delivery, and cost.
  • Use OEE data to track and improve key variables in both manual and automated systems
  • Develop and maintain accurate project timelines for new and existing programs.
  • Identify and execute on cost savings initiatives

Required Skills & Experience:

  • 2 years of previous related automation experience (professional or project experience with robotics, PLC, Controls)
  • Previous experience in manufacturing environment 

 

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in related field required.

 

Preferred Skills & Experience:

  • Fanuc, Staubli and Allen Bradley experience is highly preferred
  • CAD experience preferred
  • SolidWorks, Creo, AutoCAD preferred 

 

Travel: 1 - 10%
