Job OverviewAn Optician is trained to dispense and fit glasses and contacts, working from the prescriptions written by Optometrists and Ophthalmologists. They take into account patients' facial features, occupation, and habits to assist them in choosing the best eyeglass frames, lenses, and lens coatings to fit their needs.
This is a role that will fit eyewear and take measurements, as well as enter orders and verify insurance.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
  • Able to operate a manual lensometer
  • Check in all incoming orders to ensure quality and accuracy
  • Assist patients in selecting frames providing best fit for based on facial features and eyeglass prescription
  • Educate and recommend specific lenses, lens coatings and frames to suit patient needs
  • Accurately collect measurements needed to accurately process eyewear order
  • Dispense patient orders, adjust patient eyewear, repair as needed if possible
  • Provide exceptional customer service at all times to both external and internal customers
Education And/or Experience
  • Minimum one year optical experience
  • Experience with insurance verification
Other Skills And Abilities
  • Reliable transportation, ability to float between two offices
  • Desire to continue to gain industry knowledge and training
  • Ability to interact with all levels of employees in a courteous, professional manner at all times
  • Exceptional customer service skills
