Description of Work

The Veterinary Division protects the health of the state’s livestock and poultry population through the administration of regulatory animal health programs and disease testing conducted by the North Carolina Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory System.
The primary purpose of this position is to provide administrative and laboratory support to supervisor and technologist in the histology laboratory section. This process includes slide and cassette storage, slide and cassette labeling; operation and maintenance of laboratory equipment; maintenance of adequate laboratory inventory of solutions buffers and stains to perform routine tasks; handling, storage and disposal of hazardous materials. This position participates in the Laboratory and Section Quality Systems according to SOPs; create and maintain laboratory records which include computer data entry and retention of laboratory worksheets.
