Blue Mountain Heart to Heart is Hiring a Substance Use Disorder Professional (Walla Walla) Near Walla Walla, WA

Substance Use Disorder Professional (Walla Walla)

This is a full-time, permanent status position serving as a qualified, licensed SUDP performing assessments, helping make placements for clients into inpatient treatment programs, offering group counseling, and addiction and recovery education using trauma-informed communication. Position compensation rates range from $26 to $28.50 per hour and is eligible for full agency benefits.

Duties:

  • Conducts assessments for entry into addiction treatment programs, as indicated by assessment analysis
  • Helps clients understand and respond to barriers to engagement in treatment and care programs, to support continued participation in their care plan
  • Leads discussions and presents lectures and films for group sessions
  • Maintains professional standards and follows the treatment policies established by the agency, federal, state, and local regulations
  • Conducts follow-up on treatment programs designed for and undertaken by each client
  • Coordinates and cooperates with the staff of at BMHTH and other agencies to expedite treatment for each client; advocates for clients with partner organizations as needed and in consultation with BMHTH case managers
  • Works with BMHTH medical personnel to support client needs and appropriate care
  • Prepares patient progress reports and completion notices
  • Participates in team meetings and other regular agency meetings as appropriate
  • Participates in community educational programs on substance use disorder for the general public, professional, and industrial groups
  • Maintains all requirements to ensure that SUDP licensure/certification remains current and in good standing
  • Performs all other duties as assigned by their supervisor, Clinical Director, and Executive Director

Expectations

  • Knowledge of human behavior and performance; individual differences in ability, personality, and interests; learning and motivation; psychological research methods; and the assessment and treatment of behavioral and affective disorders
  • Knowledge of and adherence to SUDP-licensed requirements for care, training, and ongoing education in the certification
  • Knowledge of group behavior and dynamics, societal trends and influences, human migrations, ethnicity, and cultures and their history and origins; commitment to trauma-informed care and communication
  • Timely reporting to work
  • Clear written and oral communication with supervisor, coworkers, clients, and contract holders
  • Regular contact with clients as part of a longer-term plan for their empowerment
  • On-time, accurate, and complete paperwork support for clients in the form of case notes, applications for services, and paper file requirements
  • “No surprises” communication
  • Active engagement in client issues and needs
  • Initiative taking in continuing education and project-specific training

Qualifications:

  • At least 2 years in direct work as an SUDP
  • Bachelor’s degree in social work or psychology, or related field, or if an unrelated field, 1-3 years of work in social service or healthcare delivery
  • Strong competency in MS Office, Google documents, electronic patient systems, and business writing
  • Bilingual candidates preferred
