JOB SUMMARY

The Product Engineeris responsible for the development and execution of front-end product design and engineering strategies essential for the development of business class seating programs. They are also responsible for managing the development and customization of customer aircraft Layout of Passenger Accommodations (LOPAs), ensuring strict adherence to internal, customer, and aircraft OEM specifications. Through close coordination with Engineering Managers and Sales Directors, they will ensure alignment between the engineering and sales & marketing departments.

Note: The primary difference between job levels primarily lies on skill level, the complexity of problem-solving, and years of experience. Job assignments will be determined by factors such as experience, job openings, budget availability, and the performance level of the incumbent.

SUMMARY OF JOB DUTIES - Essential Functions(Other duties and projects may be assigned or requested.)

  • Play a key role in shaping product design and engineering intent, processes, and strategic initiatives
  • Specialize in producing LOPA designs tailored to various seating classes
  • Perform technical analysis, reviews specifications, and product design to develop a cost and time estimate
  • Monitor team members’ work for accuracy and technical competence; provide feedback as needed
  • Collaborate with management and sales teams to review project proposals; identify and address potential issues as needed
  • Assume ownership of assigned projects to ensure completion is on time, on budget, and in compliance with regulations
  • Generate creative and technically feasible design solutions, emphasizing product value, functionality, theme consistency, and cost-effective manufacturing
  • Coordinate with groups such as manufacturing, planning, purchasing, program management, certification, stress engineering, and electrical engineering to ensure program completion according to safety standards, regulations, and schedule
  • Create 3D models of individual components and assemblies in CATIA. Create and/or check 2D drawings of parts, components, sub-assemblies, and assemblies as required in CATIA and AUTOCAD
  • Research and verify design criteria and customer needs, based on regulatory, integrator, or OEM requirements.
  • Develop and optimize designs adhering to performance targets including cost, volume, weight, and quality as established by management and customer demand. Identify opportunities to optimize components and assemblies whenever possible
  • Create design proposals, including presentations, and objectively demonstrate the benefits and rationale behind proposed designs. This may include presentations to a various groups including other disciplines and customers
  • Operate with increased autonomy, requiring minimal managerial guidance
  • Maintain a safe, secure, and legal work environment, adhering to all Company policies and procedures
  • Contribute to team efforts by accomplishing related results as needed
  • Maintain and protect the confidentiality of the Company’s information and products
  • Perform other duties and projects as assigned or requested

GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS – Education, Knowledge, and Experience

Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field, or equivalent work experience

Experience: Job assignments will be based on experience, job opening and budget availability, and the performance level of the incumbent.

  • Level l: 0-3 years of engineering experience
  • Level II: 3-6 years of engineering experience
  • Level III: 6-8 years of engineering experience

Skills:

  • Experience in comprehensively understanding seating products
  • Developed understanding of our business strategy and corporate language
  • Ability to plan medium-sized projects
  • Experience in A-class surfacing
  • Knowledge of PLM systems
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD

Other:

  • Extended or irregular hours may be required
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States

SUPERVISION PROVIDED TO THE POSITION

  • Direction is provided for assignments in terms of desired outcome (goals), timing and budget. Work is reviewed or measured in terms of meeting organizational objectives and schedules.
  • Operate autonomously, providing occasional status updates to your supervisor.
  • Develop and provide solutions to complex problems based on established precedents and are consistent with organization objectives.

LEADERSHIP RESPONSIBILITY

  • Oversees the work of others.
  • Assists in the training and coaching of project team members as assigned.
  • Assist in driving the achievement of key initiatives of product development.

PROBLEM SOLVING

  • Develop and provide solutions for a variety of problems based on established precedents and policies.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in English, both verbally and in writing

Salary Range Transparency: $90,000 - $110,000 annually, depending on candidate qualifications
