Westchester Jewish Community Services is Hiring a Medical Director Near White Plains, NY

Location & Overview:

Westchester Jewish Community Services (WJCS) is seeking a full-time Medical Director to provide direction and supervision to four article 31 Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinics and fourteen satellite programs in Westchester County. This position includes membership to the Executive and Clinical Leadership Teams at WJCS under the supervision of the Chief Clinical Officer. Work may also be both in person and virtual. The compensation range for this position is $275,000 - $300,000.

Westchester Jewish Community Services (WJCS) is a leading multi-service non-profit human services organization in Westchester County that has been caring for the community for over 80 years. It is the largest community based outpatient mental health provider in Westchester, providing clinical mental health treatment to over 3,000 clients per year. In addition, WJCS has over 80 clinical programs that provide a wide range of supportive community services to more than 20,000 adults, children, and families each year. We work collaboratively with a full multidisciplinary team including psychiatrists, psychologists, nurse practitioners, licensed practical nurses, social workers, residential managers, home health aides, and peer support specialists. WJCS aspires for all of our services to be trauma-informed, diversity-affirming, and person-centered. Our collective mission is to strengthen communities by helping people of all ages and backgrounds overcome emotional, cognitive, physical, and social challenges. 

Job Responsibilities: 

  • Supervise and manage all medical staff, including psychiatrists, nurse practitioners, and licensed practical nurses to provide highest quality evidence-based treatment as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Meet with all Psychiatric Staff for direct supervision related to psychiatric prescribing and treatment
  • Ensure safe psychiatric coverage at all clinical locations
  • Advise and develop agency policies as a member of both the Executive Staff and Clinical Leadership Team
  • Participate in Quality Assurance, Incident Review, Utilization Review, and Safety Committees
  • Analyze, interpret, and implement professional research, government and licensure regulations to set standards, establish policy, and improve service delivery
  • Assign coverage of psychiatric staff to review and approve treatments plans
  • Provide direct psychiatric and addiction treatment for clients
  • Consult on complex clients throughout the agency
  • Provide education for staff development related to mental health, addiction, and psychopharmacology through the WJCS Education Institute and informally in staff/clinical meetings
  • Participate in grant writing and fundraising efforts as requested
  • Work collaboratively with Clinical Leadership Team to ensure all behavioral health services meet or exceed federal, state, and local standards, including for Medicare and Medicaid

Required Qualifications: 

  • Hold active NY State Medical and DEA licenses by start date
  • Board Certified in Psychiatry; additional certifications in Addiction Psychiatry required or commitment to obtain certification within 4 years. 
  • At least five years of post-residency experience in both clinical and administrative contexts
