The Industrial Maintenance Technician must have the ability to collaborate with peers and management and demonstrate exceptional judgement and a high degree of professional maturity while modeling loyalty, integrity, and honesty.
Job Description:
  • Ensure operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements on motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, robotics, PLCs, and production machines by following diagrams, sketches, operations manuals, manufacturer’s instructions, and engineering specifications.
  • Conduct advanced troubleshooting, working with general supervision.
  • Locate source(s) of problems by observing mechanical devices in operation by listening for problems and using precision measuring and testing instruments.
  • Remove defective parts by dismantling devices in operation by using hoists, cranes, hand and power tools and examining form and texture of parts.
  • Determine changes in dimensional requirements of parts by inspecting used parts using rulers, calipers, micrometers, and other measuring devices.
  • Adjust functional parts of devices and control instruments by using hand tools, levels, plumb bobs, and straight edges.
  • Control downtime by informing production supervisor and production personnel of routine preventive maintenance requirements and monitoring compliance.
  • Install new equipment or process materials, as needed.
  • Assist in the installation, programming, and repair of automated machinery.
  • Assist in writing, changing, and updating of machine programming.
  • Conserve maintenance resources by using equipment and supplies judiciously.
  • Maintain and update technical knowledge by attending workshops, classes and webinars; review technical publications utilizing the internet, and by establishing personal networks.
  • Maintain continuity among work teams by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.
  • Maintain safe and clean work environment by complying with procedures, rules and regulations including strict adherence to LockOut/TagOut, Hazard Communication, OSHA regulations, Personal Protective Equipment, and general plant safety rules.
  • Assist Operations Management in the research of professional project related contacts.
  • Provide technical input for selection and/or design of new equipment and design changes in existing equipment.
  • Assist in maintaining the lighting, ventilation, security, and fire protection.
  • Other duties assigned by the Maintenance Manager or designee.

Qualifications of Candidate:
  • 3 years’ related experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge of and experience with machine tools, engineering drawings, PLCs, robotics, electrical and pneumatic equipment.
  • Demonstrate solid mechanical aptitude; ability to understand very complicated and detailed graphs, detailed forms, tables, diagrams, and gauges, working with one or more at a time.
  • Capable of problem solving, which may be unusual, implicit, or incomplete and requires considerable translation from verbal form to mathematical expression generally requiring considerable setup and involving multiple step calculations.
  • Ability to record maintenance related information on documents as required in writing and/or electronically.
  • Ability to monitor own work while being aware of continuous improvement opportunities.
  • Meet productivity standards while ensuring quality standards are followed.
  • Follow ISO Work Instructions specific to position as indicated on Training By Position Matrix.
  • Able to work scheduled hours, arriving on time and staying through end of shift; ability to work overtime on an as needed basis and accept afterhours emergency calls when necessary.
  • Moderate computer skills including Microsoft Office and ERP systems. 
  • Possess knowledge and skill in the following areas: mechanics, pneumatics, hydraulics, machining, welding, electrical, programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and robotics.
Physical Requirements:
  • Standing and/or walking, crawling, bending, kneeling, squatting, stretching, lifting for up to eight hours per day.
  • Use of hands to repair machines.
  • Frequent lifting up to 50 lbs., occasional lifting, up to 100 lbs. with a two-man lift process.
  • Exposure to and operation of machinery with moving parts and electricity.
  • Moderate noise level in a manufacturing environment with hearing protection required in designated areas.
  • Close and distant vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
  • Operation of forklift; pushing and pulling (pallet jack).
