Description

Position Summary:

The Accountant will play a crucial role in overseeing the company's accounting functions and managing a small team responsible for accounts payable (AP), accounts receivable (AR), and general accounting tasks. This role involves supervising daily financial activities, managing financial transactions, preparing financial reports, ensuring compliance with accounting principles and company policies, and providing insights to support strategic decision-making. This role will involve working closely with other departments to support business operations and financial planning.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Transaction Management: Review and process routine and complex transactions, including journal entries, expense reports, and invoices. Ensure timely and accurate recording of financial data.

  • Record Keeping: Maintain accurate and organized financial records and documentation. Ensure proper filing and storage of financial data.

  • Financial Reporting: Assist in preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports. Ensure accuracy and compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). Analyze financial performance, variances, and trends, and provide actionable insights to management.

  • Account Reconciliation: Reconcile general ledger accounts, bank statements, and other financial records. Investigate and resolve discrepancies.

  • Budgeting and Forecasting: Assist in the preparation of budgets and financial forecasts. Monitor and report on budget performance and variances.

  • Compliance and Auditing: Ensure compliance with company policies, tax regulations, and accounting standards. Implement and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets. Assist annual audit, prepare schedules needed for auditors

  • Sales Tax: Oversee the preparation and submission of sales tax filings (in concert with Avalara)

  • Financial Analysis: Provide financial analysis and insights to support decision-making. Assist with financial modeling and scenario analysis.

  • Team player: Work alongside and mentor a junior accountant, accounts payable (AP) administrator, and accounts receivable (AR) associate. Provide guidance, support, and training to ensure the team meets performance goals and maintains high standards of accuracy and efficiency.

  • Collaboration: Work with cross-functional teams to support business operations, including inventory management, production planning, and sales.

Secondary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Project support: Work with cross-functional teams to support business growth initiatives and multi-stakeholder projects

Qualifications


Qualifications Required:

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA or CMA certification is a plus.

Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of accounting experience, preferably in a manufacturing or retail environment.

Skills/attributes:

  • Advanced proficiency in NetSuite and Microsoft Excel.

  • Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting.

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • High attention to detail and accuracy.

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment.

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality

  • Ability to sit in front of a computer looking at a computer screen and using keyboard/mouse for extended periods of time

  • High level of integrity and professional ethics
