Basic Function
HF Sinclair Woods Cross Refining LLC, located in West Bountiful, Utah is seeking an Environmental Specialist IV. This position will conduct environmental assignments and duties for the Environmental Department under limited supervision.
This position is not eligible for International Relocation Program benefits.
Job Duties
May include some or all of the following :
Special assignments or tasks assigned to the employee by their superior, as determined from time to time in their sole and complete discretion.
Experience
A minimum of 10 years of extensive industry and on-the-job experience is required.
Education Level
A minimum of a Bachelors Degree in environmental sciences or a related field is required.
Required Skills
Ability to lead and train a small group of employees in a Technical Expert capacity. Special training in hazardous waste regulations and DOT Hazmat Shipping, and a Certification in OSHA Hazmat and Method 9 Opacity may be required depending on assignment.
Advanced ability to provide analyses of proposed and final regulations that significantly impact operations and / or compliance status.
Advanced working knowledge of environmental waste and wastewater regulations required depending on assignment. Ability to perform emissions calculations preferably with a practical understanding of refinery processing programs.
Expert understanding of oil refining processes (process flow diagrams / mechanical flow sheets, chemical phase separations, and reactions).
Ability to effectively communicate with others, both written and verbal communication. Advanced reading and writing skills, with the ability to perform complex mathematical calculations.
PREFERRED SKILLS :
Familiarity with community right-to-know and risk management rules and / or experience with fuels compliance, strong time management and organizational skills, general knowledge and understanding of OSHA regulations, with particular emphasis in Process Safety Management are preferred.
Supervisory / Managerial Responsibility
May lead the work of others. Responsible for overseeing contractors within the facility.
Work Conditions
Office and plant based with travel up to 25% of the time required by land and air. Petroleum refinery, warehouse / plant environment, out-of-doors environment including but not limited to chemicals, pressure vessels, tanks, and rotating equipment.
Required to work in all temperatures including outdoors. Subject to varying road and weather conditions.
Physical Requirements
Job conditions require standing, walking, siting, twisting, stooping, crouching, kneeling, talking or hearing, making visual inspections, making precise hand and finger movements, reaching or grasping, lifting and / or carrying up to 50lbs, pushing and / or pulling up to 50lbs, climbing up to 200ft, perceiving color differences, wearing personal protective equipment (beards not permitted), and strenuous physical activity.
