Description

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

SUMMARY

Setup and Operate computer-controlled machines to perform one or more machine functions on metal or

plastic work pieces.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Read and understand Engineered prints and manufacturing routers.
  • Work with Operations with D X H sheets and T.I.B. productivity charts
  • Set up any secondary jobs required to complete part using “LEAN CELL” operation standards.
  • Keep work area, machines, and tooling clean to “LEAN 5S” standards.
  • Identify Programs from Routers or print specifications and Load into machine Control.
  • Mount, install, align, and secure tools, attachments, fixtures, and work pieces on machines, using hand tools and precision measuring instruments. 
  • Check to ensure that work pieces are properly lubricated and cooled during machine operation.
  • Touch off Tools & Input “tool offset” dimensions into machine control per program and tool specifications.
  • Stop machine to remove finished work pieces or adjust stock placement according to required machining sequences.
  • Listen to machines during operation to detect sounds such as those made by dull cutting tools or excessive vibration and adjust machines to compensate for problems.
  • Measure dimensions of finished work pieces to ensure conformance to print specifications, using precision measuring instruments or fixtures.
  • Make “Tool offset” adjustments as necessary to fix out of tolerance conditions.
  • Monitor machine operation and control panel displays and compare readings to specifications in order to detect malfunctions.
  • Ability to read G code program and confer with supervisors or programmers to resolve machine malfunctions and production errors by making minor program adjustments. Obtain approval to continue production and notify Manager of problem occurrence.
  • Performs other related duties and special projects as required and assigned by the Manager.

  • Knowledge of the EMS, QMS policies, goals and objectives.
  • Assist with systems based on Lean principles and practices to meet or exceed the requirements of the established QMS, EMS and all other standards required to serve our target markets.

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

High school graduate or General Education Degree (GED) minimum. Skilled training within 2-year program or additional machining courses highly desired.

2 years’ experience with CNC operator / setup.
