Stonecreek Dental Care - Xenia, OH

Monday through Thursday 8am-5pm

Summary

Partners with the practice team to provide excellent clinical support to help patients get their needed care. Prepares the patient for treatment and assists the dentist in restorative dentistry. Prepares material and equipment for treatment.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Assists doctors which includes but is not limited to charting, placement of fillings, operatory set/clean up, and patient education.
  • Able to perform expanded duties following state regulations and compliance.
  • Assists in clinical procedures and treatment such as: placing amalgam or composite fillings, adaptation of temporary crowns, removing surgical sutures, and applying topical fluoride treatments. Limitations due apply per state requirements.
  • Records and reviews patient health history, makes chart entries under the doctor's direction and assures completion of forms and signatures in dental software.
  • Enters and updates patient treatment plans at the direction of the treating doctor.
  • Prepares treatment estimates for review and discussion with patient.
  • Reviews the daily schedule to set up appropriate trays and instruments.
  • Prepares patients, sterilizes and disinfects instruments, sets up instrument trays, maintains chain of asepsis, prepares materials, and assists dentists during dental procedures following OSHA guidelines.
  • Exposes and develops dental diagnostic radiographs.
  • Orders and monitor dental supplies and equipment inventory.
  • Organizes and assembles routine and specialty surgical instrument trays and other sterilized supplies, filling special requests as needed.
  • Operates and maintains steam autoclaves, keeping records of loads completed, items in loads, and maintenance procedures performed.
  • Records sterilizer test results.
  • Follows OSHA regulations and safety requirements to include compliance with HIPAA guidelines, CPR, X-rays, and other required certifications and registrations.
  • Assists the dentist in the management of medical and dental emergencies.
  • Provides postoperative instructions prescribed by the dentist.
  • Follows company policies, procedures, and company training regarding patient care including but not limited to scheduling and time management protocols.
  • Maintains the cleanliness of the dental practice both in and outside the dental practice.
  • Participates in marketing events to promote dental services and the practice.
  • Expected to work all scheduled work days, during scheduled hours and report to work on time.
  • Embraces NADG’s values, culture, and core 3 (three); People First, Access to Care, Cost Containment.
  • Abides by NADG standard of care protocols and procedures.
  • Supports NADG Care Cycle and will prioritize ‘best-in-class’ care to patients.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Experience/Requirements

All team members will abide by state and federal regulations to complete job duties

  • 0-2 years’ experience
  • State Licensure required
  • Expanded Dental Assistant Certificate is required
  • Valid Dental Radiographer License for respective state requirements
  • Coronal polishing and sealant placement certification required for respective state requirements
  • CPR certification required
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite

  • Digital Dentistry: Has knowledge and is able to support team members in the use of digital equipment and software used within practice. Examples include Open Dental, Primescan, and OverJet, etc.

Education/Training

  • Certification or Associate’s degree from an accredited school or on-the-job training

Physical/Environmental

  • Sitting, standing, and bending for extended periods.
  • The individual can make precisely coordinated movements of the fingers of one or both hands to grasp, manipulate, or assemble exceedingly small objects.
  • The individual demonstrates the ability to see details at close range (within a few feet of the observer).
  • The individual demonstrated the ability to keep the hand and arm steady while moving the arm or while holding the arm and hand in one position.
  • The individual must make precise coordinated movements of the fingers of one or both hands to grasp, manipulate, or assemble exceedingly small objects.
  • The individual adapts to changes in the work environment, manages competing demands, and is able to deal with frequent change, delays, or unexpected events.
  • Position requires frequent talking, hearing, and vision with moderate standing, walking, and reaching.
  • General clinical environment with frequent exposure to chemicals, bloodborne pathogens, patient body fluids and/or tissue, and physical hazards such as needle sticks.
  • Repetitive motion.
  • Occasional lifting of up to 50 lbs.
