A Mechanical Designer is responsible for designing, developing, and releasing deliverables to manufacturing. This includes creating parts, assemblies, drawings and layouts of mechanical components and machines using 3D CAD (Solidworks) and 2D (AutoCAD) software. Also, BOM's and release documentation as need

  • Understanding the primary means of communication to those outside engineering is through clear, concise, 3D models and drawings that enable standard work in fabrication, assembly, and aftermarket services.
  • Understanding the need for a consistent, sustainable process to maintain, revise, store, and release product documentation
• Have experience detailing technical and mechanical concepts
  • Proficiency in Solidworks with the ability to create accurate solid models, assemblies, and drawings. Working knowledge of AutoCAD
  • Working knowledge of engineering standards, processes, and accepted practices. Such as, but not limited to; ECN's, BOM's, redlines, and Solidworks 3D modeling and vault etiquette.
  • Able to produce detailed, accurate and complete layouts/installation drawings, equipment lists, utility schedule, and equipment specifications.
• Be able to generate parts manuals and spare parts lists.
• Have knowledge of weldments, sheet metal and machining processes.
• Have a willingness to work with manufacturing personnel to resolve equipment design or manufacturing issues when required.
• Have a willingness to collaborate with manufacturing groups for product testing and validation as necessary.
• Be familiar with the use of design for manufacturing.
• Be familiar with MRP/ERP systems.
• Possess work habits that value hands-on collaboration

Requirements

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering preferred, but equivalent experience and education accepted.
• Minimum 2 or more years of practical experience; and/or 2 or more years in mechanical design preferred.
• Must be able to travel to collect customer and job site information when required (2% approximately)
• Must have authorization to work in the United States, no sponsorships available.
• Must be able to sit, stand, and lift up to 50 lbs in a non-repetitive environment.
• Must be able to read and write in fluent English

Additional plus

• Familiarity with 480/240 VAC industrial power and/or 24 VDC control systems
• Conveyor and conveyor system design experience
• Familiarity with pneumatic components
