Under the administrative direction of the Director of Development Services, the Chief Building Official will perform supervisory and technical duties to ensure enforcement and compliance with all adopted City codes. Perform work related to the review and inspection of residential and commercial construction and coordinate with other City departments relative to new construction.

Qualifications

• A Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Building Construction, Engineering, or a closely related field and at least five (5) years of experience in general construction, plan review, or building inspection or an equivalent combination of education and experience; 
• Must also have a minimum of three years supervisory experience;
• Must have or obtain the following certifications within twelve months of employment: Building Official Certification (CBO) as issued by the International Code Council (ICC); ICC Building Inspector Certificate, ICC Plans Examiner Certificate, ICC Electrical Inspector Certificate, and ICC Mechanical Inspector Certificate. Prefer Texas State licensed plumbing inspector; and 
• Must possess valid State of Texas Driver's License.
