Whatcom County Parks and Recreation Department is recruiting for a Park Attendant.
Under the supervision of the Park Supervisor, this position performs duties associated with park maintenance and operations. Primary duties include cleaning and basic maintenance of grounds, facilities, equipment, and trails; supporting operations activities associated with facility rentals, range operations, revenues, and visitor engagement; informing the public regarding park rules and regulations; implementing safety programs for staff and park visitors; coordinating the work of peers, subordinate staff, and volunteers, as assigned; and assisting in achievement of Department goals and objectives. Complies with policies, procedures, legal standards and requirements.
The Park Attendant will be assigned to work in a variety of locations throughout Whatcom County Parks. One of the Attendants will be primarily assigned to the Bellingham Senior Center. Park Attendants may be assigned to cover parks in other regions.

Hours of Work: This position is subject to an open work week schedule which means the hours and days of regular shifts may vary, and typically include weekends and holidays. May be required to work overtime or shift extensions during peak workloads, emergencies or critical conditions.For more information, please review the following:
Two years of post-secondary education in Park or Recreation Management, or similar field of study (60 semester credits or 90 quarter credits) AND 1 year of experience in park operations, maintenance and management.
OR
High school diploma or GED AND three (3) years of experience in park operations, maintenance and management.
Additional Requirements:
Must have a driving record that meets County standards and possess a valid driver's license at time of hire and throughout employment.
Because work assignments include locations in Point Roberts, must be eligible to cross between the United States and Canada at time of hire and throughout employment.
