Position Information
Description & Details : Provide wildland fire suppression and hazardous fuels reduction assistance as part of the North Dakota Forest Service Fire Management Team.
Assist with statewide wildfire protection programs including wildfire prevention, preparedness, and suppression on both in-state and out-of-state wildland fire emergencies.
Assist with hazardous fuels reduction activities including prescribed fire, forest stand thinning and related practices.
The position will also assist with fire training and with screening and inventorying Federal Excess Personal Property (FEPP) and Firefighter Property (FFP).
This position is based in the Bismarck Field Office, requires travel and field work.
Work Schedule : 40 hours / week; 8 - 5 or similar, M - F. Evening and weekend hours required.
Advertised Salary : $48,390 DOE
Minimum Qualifications :
Safely and effectively operate wildland fire engines, hand tools and power tools.Communicate professionally with various audiences.
Work outdoors in all types of weather and safely traverse rough terrain.Enter, organize, maintain, analyze, and summarize data using apps and software including GIS.
Work flexible and extended hours, travel alone, stay overnight, and work in remote and rural areas.

The North Dakota Forest Service is part of North Dakota State University, and is the state agency which administers cooperative forestry programs statewide.
The agency provides technical assistance relating to the management of private forest lands, state forest lands, urban and community forests, tree planting, and wildfire protection.

The Forest Service also operates a tree seedling nursery and manages state forest lands.
