NORY is Hiring a Summer Coding Day Camp Counselor - Boston or Brookline Near Boston, MA

Job Title: Summer Day Camp Coding Instructor

Locations: Boston (Emerson College) and Brookline (British International School of Boston)

Job Type: Full-Time / Seasonal

Compensation: $720 - $950/Weekly

About NORY:

At NORY, we design learning journeys where every child in NYC and Boston becomes a risk-taking entrepreneur, inquisitive problem solver, and empathetic leader. As the largest STEM camp provider in NYC with 3000 campers annually, we are the Disney World of STEM education, where each learning experience is magical, impactful, and memorable. Dive into our world at: www.nory.co/summer, and watch this video:

NORY has launched an initiative called NORY Coding - our older students will actually get a chance to program their robots and learn important fundamental coding concepts. Students use languages similar to Scratch to program both arduino circuit boards/sensors and proprietary robots provided by our STEM partner, Roborisen.

Do you remember Steve Irwin, the crocodile guy? You are the Steve Irwin of your classroom!

We are looking for rock-star Coding Instructors this summer in Boston and Brookline:

We are looking for talented individuals who'd like to lead our 8-12yo division, which is filled with exciting STEM projects such as coding and hands-on engineering projects! Our educator team is empathetic, positive, and eager to learn and grow. You'll inspire children's motivation to explore and invent, guiding them through every step of their adventure. Sometimes, you'll be their big brother/sister, or their cheerleader.

Why NORY?

  • DREAM Summer Projects: You will get to work with the "DREAM" summer projects, developed by the collaboration between the NORY curriculum team and 3 nationally renowned STEM educators.
  • Professional Development: Seize the opportunity to acquire extensive STEM training in a single summer. Our team is committed to fostering your personal and professional growth through a comprehensive coaching program.
  • Fast Promotion Opportunity: Gain leadership skills through our professional development pipeline.
  • Fun and Loving Memories: Create memorable experiences for our campers.

Summer Coding Instructor Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate coding lessons using languages similar to Scratch
  • Coach students in creating meaningful inventions using Arduino circuit boards/sensors and proprietary robots
  • Encourage a positive learning environment and foster our core values
  • Act as a role model, demonstrating resilience, inquisitiveness, and empathy

Summer Camp Compensation and Benefits:

  • Compensation: $720 to $950 / week depending on experience and schedule
  • Hours: M-F 7:45am to 4:30pm Thursdays until 5:30pm. Camp runs from 9am to 3pm.
  • Note: Camp duration and pay depend on the camp size: smaller camps end at 4:30 PM and larger camps end at 5:30 PM with additional pay.
  • Other Opportunities: Work at our holiday camps throughout the year
  • Location: We have opportunities in Boston and Brookline
  • Possible Pre-Season Work (May): 2~10 hours/week

You're a great fit for the role if these organizational values resonate with you: www.nory.co/value, and if:

  • You have 1 year experience working with 8-12-year-old children.
  • You love learning new technology and skills.
  • You are positive. You ask “how to make it work?” before asking “will it be possible?”
  • You seek feedback and welcome others to show different perspectives and more effective ways to help you grow.
  • You are empathetic and caring. You love children.
  • You are full of quirky and fun energy that can keep up with the 8-12yo energy balls :-)
  • You unify the team. You help nurture a loving and caring environment that upholds the values of empathy and compassion.
  • Having some coding experience is a plus, but not necessary at all since we’ll be training & working with coding teachers closely.
  • You do NOT need to have a background in STEM. We have a thorough training program for those who love learning new things!

Pre-Summer Engagement Opportunities:

If you are interested in joining our team before summer, we offer several holiday camps allowing new hires to get acclimated to NORY protocols and procedures. This is an invaluable opportunity to familiarize yourself with our camp's environment and best prepare for the summer season.

Why This Role Rocks:

You will grow alongside a rapidly expanding company, at the forefront of nurturing hundreds of children annually. Working in a startup-spirited environment offers rapid learning and growth opportunities. You will collaborate closely with various leadership members, contributing to a rich learning atmosphere.
