Pro Spot International is Hiring a CNC Machinist Near Carlsbad, CA

Job SummaryThis position works with minimal supervision of the machine shop supervisor to perform the majority of the setups and operations, including most complex setups and operations to produce metal parts and assemblies on a production basis. Maintain expert knowledge of G codes and input into CNC machines for production, while ensuring products have precise and accurate measurements. Responsible for quality parts produced on machines such as but not limited to lathes, milling machines in a timely, safe, and efficient manner.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Provides functional direction to lower level machinists and helpers.
  • Operate, perform set-up changes and first article inspections on production runs in their area of responsibility.
  • Experience in programming the machines in their area of responsibility.
  • Measures, marks, and scribes dimensions, reference points on material or workpiece as guides for subsequent machining.
  • Selects, aligns, and secures holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials on machines, such as mills, lathes, and grinders.
  • Sets up and operates the machine on trail run and verifies the accuracy of machine settings or programmed control data.
  • Verifies dimensions and alignment of assembly, using measurement instruments, such as micrometers, pin gauges, calipers, etc.
  • May confer with engineers, production personnel, programmers, or others to resolve machining or assembly problems.
  • Calculate dimensions and tolerances using knowledge of mathematics and instruments such as micrometers and calipers.
  • Machine parts to specifications using machine tools such as lathes and milling machines.
  • Measure, examine, and test completed units in order to detect defects and ensure conformance to specifications, using precision instruments.
  • Set up, adjust, and operate all of the basic machine tools and many specialized or advanced variation tools in order to perform precision machining operations.
  • Monitor the feed and speed of machines during the machining process.
  • Study sample parts, blueprints, drawings, and engineering information in order to determine methods and sequences of operations needed to fabricate products, and determine product dimensions and tolerances.
  • Select the appropriate tools, machines, and materials to be used in preparation of machinery work.

Qualifications
  • Certificate in Machine Tool Technology, Manufacturing Machine Technology Program, or other similar programs or one year experience operating CNC machinery.
  • Experienced interpreting blueprints, drawings, specs, and routers - required.
  • Must be able to operate equipment and adhering to procedures/standards - required.
  • Maintain accurate dimensional tolerances based upon drawings, attention to detail - required.
  • Ensure paperwork is accurate and reflects the latest revision.
  • Experienced working with aluminum, copper, brass, and steel - required.
  • Math and computer knowledge and ERP systems - required.
  • Report unsafe conditions, broken or malfunctioning equipment, accidents and inquiries to the supervisor.
  • Must be capable of operating CNC machines in all phases of operations, manual data input (MDI), to run first article parts or to proof new programs.
Working Conditions
Typical physical demands and the work environment characteristics an employee must meet and encounter while performing the essential functions of the job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
  • Ability to stand and walk up to 70/80% of the day.
  • Ability to occasionally lift and carry items ranging from 10 - 100 pounds (over 50 lbs with assistance).
  • Positions require sitting, standing, walking, and bending.
  • Must be able to handle urgencies associated with production demands.
  • Must be able to speak/hear to fulfill verbal communications and respond to machine alarms/buzzers.
  • Occasional exposure to noise, gas/fumes/mists, and chemicals or hazardous materials while using personal protective equipment when required.
  • Perform all job functions in a safe manner following all established safety guidelines, policies and procedures.
  • Must wear steel toe shoes & safety glasses.
  • Must be able to work extended hours per the demands of the business.
