Come join us at ChristianaCare! We are hiring a Director of Environmental Services to plan, organize, execute and coordinate the activities of the Environmental Services Department. The EVS leader will ensure the maintenance of high standards of service to provide safe and efficient sanitation services for ChristianaCare Hospital (1100 plus beds,) located on the Newark Campus. The successful candidate will have no less than ten years proven experience in EVS operations in a health care operation setting. Also, the candidate must possess effective communication and interpersonal skills to successfully communicate with stakeholders throughout the health system. Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree Required; master’s preferred. Ten years’ experience required in Environmental Services Health Care Operations Management preferred (at least one large 500 bed plus labor intensive organization). In this role you will: Develop and implements departmental policies, procedures, goals, objectives and standards of work performance for environmental services ChristianaCare hospital Newark campus. Determine the scope and flow of work assignments, use of equipment and use of chemicals to provide a consistently clean, safe environment. Plan, develop and coordinate training to meet the developmental and learning needs of the organization. Supervise and direct assigned staff including interviewing and hiring new staff, evaluating work performance, coaching and disciplining Establish and manage processes to determine workload, productivity and staffing needs Ensure employee relations matters are conducted in a fair, even handed manner consistent with ChristianaCare’ s policies. Coordinate departmental activities and responsibilities with other ChristianaCare departments. Establish goals with a plan of action for accomplishment, including clearly stated desired results in conjunction with the Vice President of Support Services. Ensure that proper communications are maintained with staff through staff meetings, other oral communications and written communications. Coordinate the development of annual operating and capital budgets to include personnel, equipment, material, engineering services and project needs. Monitors and manages the budget after adoption. Analyze and resolve inter-departmental issues requiring department head level administration. Initiate, negotiate and manage contracted services and supply agreements including waste removal, windowing cleaning, pest services, recycling, equipment maintenance, cubical curtains, cleaning supplies and hand sanitation supplies. Coordinate the execution of work performed by contractors. Ensure that contractual provisions and construction schedules are met Ensures that the Environmental Services Department is in compliance with CDC, TJC, EPA, OSHA and other relevant regulatory agencies so ChristianaCare meets or exceeds the applicable regulations. Meets with material suppliers, manufacturer designers and service contractors on various equipment, materials, tools and contract services available. Evaluates technical information provided by these businesses to determine whether or not to purchase/obtain services from the business. Apply innovative approaches to managerial problem solving, staff motivation and monitoring results of the housekeeping programs. Direct performance improvement initiatives that support caregiver experience, exceptional experience, optimal health and organizational vitality.
