Manufacturing Engineer will work cross functionally with the internal teams including Sales, R&D, Production, Quality, Plant Engineer, Maintenance, and Customer Service. This position requires a forward thinking and creative individual who can think out of the box, see the big pictures, and outline the tactical steps needed to achieve desired result.
The Manufacturing Engineer will also have some project management responsibilities including: performing calculations for volumes of needed materials, coordinating material delivery for specific production runs, and compiling trial quotes. Manufacturing Engineer will need to communicate and collaborate with R&D, Production, and Quality while interfacing with Customers and ensuring timely production.
Position SummaryPosition Responsibilities:
  • Evaluate, define, and document existing manufacturing processes and workflows
  • Perform continuous risk assessment and cost reduction exercises to define and improve manufacturing processes
  • Assist in development of processes for new products
  • Troubleshoot and optimize manufacturing processes to improve efficiency
  • Create work instructions for change-overs and manufacturing
  • Communicate with and educate operators to improve and define manufacturing processes
  • Ensure QMS system is maintained and up to date
  • Prepares product and process reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends
  • Work with Plant Engineer, Maintenance, and vendors on projects
  • Assist with installation of new equipment
  • Value Stream Mapping
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Ability to troubleshoot PLCs or automation equipment and communicate effectively to contract/vendors to resolve issues
Required Education and Experience: BS in Engineering – Industrial, Manufacturing, Mechanical, or Chemical 10 years of related experience Technical knowledge of pumps, mixing equipment, filtration (polish filtration) Extensive knowledge of production principles and techniques Knowledge of industrial electronics Proficiency using MS Office and MS Project Proficiency using SolidWorks, AutoCAD, data analysis programs and/or related software Education and Experience Preferences: Experience with chemical handling or thermal drying Experience with web handling and roll to roll coating (of papers films, or foils) glass manufacturing, or float glass manufacturing Experience with LEAN manufacturing (green belt) Project management
