**It is required that the Bilingual Program Specialist resides within (or in close proximity to) the Denver Metro Area of Colorado, USA.
What is a Bilingual Community Program Specialist?
The Community Program Specialist position leads the development and delivery of culturally sensitive Girl Scout programming in targeted areas of Colorado Springs, with the focus on traditionally underserved and BIPOC (black and indigenous people of color) communities. This position coordinates the successful delivery of programming of Girl Scouts programs outside our traditional membership community, with the individual performing a wide variety of duties and assignments to ensure quality, focused delivery, and evaluation of programs to Girl Scouts. The Community Program Specialist reports to the Girl Scout Program Manager as part of the Program team and works collectively with all GSCO departments towards the completion of program and membership goals.
Community Program Development
  • Act as the GSCO subject matter expert for community program logistics and Girl Scout programming specific to culturally and economically diverse youth in targeted areas of Colorado Springs.
  • Develop in-person programs for Girl Scouts in targeted areas of Colorado Springs and Pueblo.
  • Create and coordinate targeted community thought partner groups to establish and meet programmatic needs of the community.
  • Collaborate with funding partners to develop quality programs that meet the needs of funder and outside organizations' missions.
  • Assist in training the Program team in engaging culturally diverse communities through the mobile program and supporting developed programs.
Program Delivery
  • Deliver programs in person for Girl Scouts and adult members in assigned geographical areas.
  • Create materials, such as videos or activities, to aid in the facilitation of programming.
  • Adapt programming to meet the needs of Girl Scouts and adult members.
Program Administration
  • Assist in the recruitment of Girl Scouts in assigned geographical areas.
  • Collaborate with Girl Scout Program Manager in establishing new locations for recruitment and program delivery.
  • Provide constant communication with community partners to ensure a strong relationship and consistent program opportunities.
  • Maintain current and accurate records of all Girl Scouts served and ensure program registration is done in a timely manner.
Other Duties
  • Support reporting and communication with Fund Development team regarding grants, donors, and other fundraising efforts related to staff-led programming.
  • Support the efforts and commitments of Girl Scouts of Colorado in the area of pluralism and diversity throughout the organization and within each community.
  • Work cross functionally with other departments to support membership and the council's plan of work.
What knowledge, skills, or abilities does a Wellness Program Specialist need?
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Excellent skills in group management and facilitation.
  • Night and weekend availability is required.
  • Ability to work in a team environment with other departments.
  • Knowledge of Girl Scout program desired.
  • Bilingual and bicultural skills required, specifically Spanish.
  • Must pass a criminal background check.
  • One year demonstrated experience working with culturally diverse populations, preferably with youth.
  • Two years' experience in facilitating programming with youth, preferred.
  • Experience developing relationships with culturally and economically diverse and/or BIPOC (black, indigenous people of color) communities and starting grassroots engagement with organization.
  • Team player and someone who thrives in a team environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with diverse populations.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills demonstrated through:
    • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret relevant publications, policies and
    • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, volunteers, and the general public.
Salary:
  • This position pays $22.67-$25.56 per hour depending on experience, plus mileage reimbursement.
