About the Role

We are seeking a seasoned HR professional to join our team as a Senior HR Specialist. In this role, you will leverage your HR expertise to champion our company culture, manage various HR processes, and serve as a trusted advisor to staff and management. You will play a key role in ensuring a smooth onboarding experience for new team members, maintaining positive team member relations, and fostering a productive work environment.

We are particularly interested in candidates with a degree in Industrial/Organizational Psychology. This background provides a strong foundation for understanding human behavior in the workplace and developing effective HR strategies, including leveraging data analytics to inform decision-making.

Responsibilities:
  • Oversee and maintain all HR records (electronic and physical)
  • Champion our Walbridge culture of inclusion initiative and promote strong working relationships
  • Advise on and ensure compliance with EEO, labor classifications, OFCCP, Health Benefits, and Retirement plans
  • Conduct exit and retention interviews and analyze data to identify trends and make recommendations for improvement.
  • Oversight of onboarding and orientation programs for new team members
  • Consult with project leaders on HR matters
  • Monitor substance abuse testing process
  • Investigate and resolve team member relations issues
  • Oversee labor postings and signage
  • Coordinate onsite health and wellness programs
  • Assist the Corporate HR department with various HR functions, including data analysis projects
Qualifications:
  • Bachelors degree in Human Resources, Industrial/Organizational Psychology, or a related field
  • Prefer 5 years of HR experience (3 years of experience considered)
  • Proven expertise in a specific HR specialty area (e.g., recruitment, team member relations, benefits administration)
  • Proficiency in HR information systems, databases, MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, SharePoint), and data analysis tools (experience with HR analytics software a plus)
  • Strong understanding of HR principles, practices, and procedures
  • Excellent time management, organizational, and planning skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive issues with discretion
  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills
  • Ability to build relationships and work effectively with people at all levels
  • Strong commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience working in a unionized environment (ideal but not required)
