What You'll Do:

Under general supervision from the Program Director, the Assistant Program Manager performs daily duties as an Instructor and works closely with the Program Director providing support in student management and retention. This position requires direct contact with students in instruction, training, and monitoring professional and academic success throughout their program.

* Provides professional leadership and support for Medical Assisting (MA) instructors; serves as a mentor and facilitator for instructors assigned.

* Advises students on attendance, grades, and discipline issues as necessary and follow up with students regarding their success.

* Recognizes outward signs of student problems that inhibit their achievement and takes appropriate action. Identifies and refers students who are "at risk" of leaving the course to Academic Advisor.

* Ensures that the instructors follow best practices and standard operation procedures, always acting as a trainer and mentor.

* Provides ongoing student advisement and academic counseling by tutoring and mentoring students on an individual basis when needed.

* Keeps students engaged?in a?classroom environment while following an established curriculum/syllabus.

* Offers constant guidance during the practical portion of class- educating students on proper technique and skills.

* Creates positive educational climate for students to learn in while establishing and communicating clear objectives for all learning activities.

* Administers oral, written, or performance tests to measure progress and to evaluate training effectiveness.

* Assists in resolving student and faculty issues and concerns in a professional and timely manner.

* Maintains a high standard for program quality, professionalism, and excellence, and ensures that Arizona College sets the example for appropriate professionalism, risk management and safety in the field.

* Responsible for ensuring student and institution's records are kept in compliance with applicable regulations.

* Works under minimal supervision and exercises independent judgment and tact in handling highly confidential information regarding controversial matters, personnel, and affairs of personal delicacy.

What We Need From You:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

* A minimum of two (2) years' experience directly related to the programs overseen is required (Post-Secondary Instructor experience preferred).

* Formal education directly related to the programs overseen.

* Holds appropriate credentials, certification, or licensure to maintain programs' accreditation.

* Possesses good organizational skills, knowledge of record keeping procedures, including the ability to collect and organize data and information.

* Ability to establish and maintain appropriate levels of authority as well as creating an atmosphere of support and confidence for students.
