POSITION: Sheeter Operator
REPORTS TO: Shift Supervisor/Shift Lead
DEPARTMENT: Extrusion
PRINCIPAL DUTIES:
- Works in a safe manner and follows all company EH&S rules.
- Sets up and operates the controls of the Sheeter to maximize product quality and minimize waste while maintaining the general condition of the machine.
- Responsible for mounting rolls and removing skids of finished goods.
- Insures that accurate reports and records are made out with necessary details.
- Makes quality inspection of finished products.
- Frequently measures sheet dimensions and adjusts machine to maintain production tolerances.
- Makes changeovers and runs machine as fast as possible to increase productivity while also producing a quality product.
- Maintains machine and area in a fashion consistent with good housekeeping standards.
- Continually maintains awareness of job safety aspects and works in a safe manner at all times.
- Annual training required in hazardous waste management, including contingency plan implementation and effective response to hazardous waste emergencies as defined by this facilities LA DEQ approved plan. This training will be conducted by either the Plant EH&S Coordinator or a qualified outside contractor.
- It is your responsibility to follow the procedures and policies that are defined in this facilities Hazardous Waste Management plan during your daily duties that include handling, storage, or transporting hazardous waste at this facility. You are also responsible for following the procedures and polices that are defined in this facilities contingency plan during an emergency or spill of hazardous waste.
- No lift trucks or equipment shall be stored outside the facility that will contaminate storm water. You may store equipment outside that is exposed to the environment if the following guidelines are implemented:
- All fluids must be drained from the lift truck or equipment and properly stored or disposed of in accordance with this facilities policy.
- All surface residue must be cleaned from the lift truck or equipment. This must be performed in an area that will allow for 100% containment of both the residue and the cleaning media used. The collected residue and cleaning media mixture must be stored and disposed of in accordance with this facilities Hazardous Waste Management program.
- Once placed outside for storage, the lift truck or equipment must be tarped.
- No bulk storage containers can be placed outside the building or containment areas that will be exposed to the environment. This includes boxes of chemicals or drums, etc. Any storage outside the covered buildings/containment systems of this type requires modification/amendment to our Storm Water Plan.
- LOADING/UNLOADING OF FLAMMABLE LIQUIDS: It is your responsibility to insure that the following are adhered to during transfer operations:
- All hoses, pumps, containers, and support equipment used to transport, transfer, store, and pump flammable liquids must be DOT/NFPA/OSHA approved. This includes all tools used to open/seal containers. These tools must be constructed of non-sparking materials.
- TRUCK/TRAILER: You are responsible for chocking/unchocking the truck/trailer during pump transfer operations of flammable liquids. You are responsible for insuring that the grounding clip is in proper working order. You are responsible for insuring that the grounding clip is secured before any pump transfer operations of flammable liquids is initiated. No hose connections can be made unless the truck/trailer is chocked and the grounding clip is secured.
- CONTAINERS: BULK STORAGE OR TRANSPORTABLE: You are responsible for insuring that the grounding clip system is in proper working order. You are responsible for insuring that the grounding clip is secured before any pump transfer operations of flammable liquids is initiated. No hose connections can be made unless the grounding clip is secured to the container.
- AREA SURVEY AND SURVEYLANCE: You are responsible for insuring that no open flames or ignition sources are present within 20 feet of the area that flammable liquids are exposed to the environment during transfer/pumping operations.
- You are responsible for insuring that the all hose transfer connection points on the truck/trailer are secured and not leaking before the truck can leave the facility.
- You are responsible for insuring that all spills are cleaned up immediately in accordance with our Hazardous Waste Management Contingency plan.
- Follows all Standard Operating Procedures, Work Instruction, and Good Manufacturing Practices pertaining to Food Safety.
- Responsibilities of this position as it directly relates to the finished goods are to do each task correctly the first time and to achieve the highest level of quality in the goods that I produce and the service I render. My aim is to continually improve year after year.
- Initiates ideas and develops proposals for improving quality of everything we do as measured by our customers and for reducing costs, in order to make the Division more competitive in the marketplace.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the Shift Supervisor/Shift Lead.
