REGIONAL MARKETING & COMMUNICATIONS MANAGER
ROLE
The Regional Marketing & Communications Manager leads marketing and communications efforts for our regional team leadership. The Regional Marketing & Communications Manager implements marketing and communications for the regional design and business development teams, creating value and solutions for our clients. In close collaboration with our global marketing team, the position implements the strategic development of marketing and communication collateral and media articles for pitches and key top-tier client presentations. This individual brings a senior level of strategic insight into the region in terms of industry and media landscape and has excellent copywriting and interpersonal skills to quickly become an integral member of the regional design studio.
RESPONSIBILITIES
The Regional Marketing & Communications Manager is an excellent communicator, highly collaborative, creative analytical person who thrives in a fast-paced, global, deadline-driven creative environment.
- Quickly learns the WATG portfolio in detail with a strong grasp of our design expertise – advisory services, master planning, architecture, landscape architecture, and interior design – to identify and leverage and bring awareness of our best work and position the brand of WATG within the assigned region to win new business
- Has a deep knowledge and experience working in our business's core sectors – destination and tourism, hospitality, urban, mixed-use, and high-end residential
- Has experience managing significant marcoms assignments independently, working closely with senior leadership
- Has an ability and constant thirst to harvest the latest information on market and media trends and pivot to position the firm against our competitors
- Has a mastery of external communication and copywriting with experience in extrapolating relevant key messaging to key clients and target audiences
- Plans and implements a regional marketing and communications strategy in alignment with our regional business development plans and pinpoints opportunities for influence and targeted exposure, pivoting messaging to address current market and media trends
- Drives exposure in tier one business for the region, trade, and design press, carving out a unique voice and perspective that both resonates with our audiences and differentiates us from our competitors
- Initiates conversations and collaborations with client marketing teams to generate new cross-promotional campaigns and expanded project PR opportunities
- Proactively seeks out and identifies relevant speaking opportunities at key industry conferences across the region that raise awareness of both our key messaging and spokespeople, placing the right people in the relevant opportunities and managing the process throughout
- Identifies the angles and hooks, interviews design teams to capture/document key learnings from projects, finds opportunities for innovative marketing content in the form of thought leadership, and press articles
- Provides media training and guidance to support our spokespeople, leading them confidently into press and event opportunities and managing the behind-the-scenes preparation
- Collaborates seamlessly with the wider marketing team to build and strategize a shared, comprehensive calendar that considers global and regional marcomms activity and maximizes and refines efforts with multichannel collaterals and outputs
- Acts as a brand guardian to maintain consistency of marketing deliverables in alignment with WATG brand guidelines, working closely with our global marketing team
- Consults with our external Public Relations consultancy on award submissions and media pitching to raise the profile of senior leaders, projects, and WATG / Wimberly Interiors brand awareness
- Works closely with the Managing Principal of Marketing to agree on and oversee photo and video shoots for key regional hero projects, including coordination across the internal design team on design briefs to optimize the shoot and imagery outcomes
QUALIFICATIONS
B.S./B.A. in business administration, marketing, or communications
10 years of experience in a professional services environment in a marketing/communications role
Experience managing significant marcoms assignments independently, working closely with senior leadership
Experience with Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, and Microsoft Office Suite preferred
Event coordination experience
Working knowledge of marketing and communications analytics
Excellent written, oral, and presentation skills
Ability to communicate strategically with senior leadership across multiple geographies
Confident presence and attitude
Tech-savvy with a finger on the pulse of business, culture, and innovation
Knowledge of the tourism and hospitality sectors
Ability to seamlessly work within a global environment
Fast learner who is independently motivated
