Job Description:

As a Nurse Consultant in Long-Term Care, your role is to provide expert guidance, support, and

consultation to long-term care facilities such as nursing homes, assisted living centers, and

residential care facilities. You will primarily focus on improving the quality of care provided to

residents, enhancing staff training and development, and ensuring compliance with healthcare

regulations and best practices.

Key Responsibilities:

● Quality Improvement: Assess the quality of care provided in long-term care facilities by

conducting regular audits, evaluations, and inspections. Identify areas for improvement

and develop strategies to enhance resident care, safety, and satisfaction.

● Staff Training and Development: Provide education and training programs to facility staff,

including nurses, nursing assistants, and other healthcare professionals. Develop training

materials, conduct workshops, and ensure staff members are up-to-date with the latest

healthcare practices and regulations.

● Policy and Procedure Development: Collaborate with facility administrators and staff to

develop, review, and revise policies and procedures that align with industry standards and

regulatory requirements. Ensure that policies are communicated effectively to staff and

followed consistently.

● Regulatory Compliance: Stay informed about local, state, and federal regulations and

guidelines applicable to long-term care facilities. Assist in interpreting and implementing

these regulations to ensure compliance and minimize risk. Stay informed about local,

● Resident Advocacy: Serve as an advocate for residents by addressing their concerns,

resolving complaints, and ensuring their rights are protected. Promote a culture of

resident-centered care and assist in developing individualized care plans.

● Infection Control: Develop and implement infection control protocols and procedures to

prevent and manage outbreaks of infectious diseases within long-term care facilities.

Educate staff on infection control measures and oversee their implementation.

● Performance Evaluation: Monitor and evaluate the performance of facility staff and provide

feedback to administrators regarding areas of improvement. Collaborate with the

management team to develop performance improvement plans and ensure a high

standard of care.

● Collaboration and Communication: Maintain effective communication and collaboration

with facility administrators, healthcare providers, and regulatory agencies. Participate in

interdisciplinary meetings, committees, and task forces to promote quality improvement

and resident-centered care.

NURSE CONSULTANT

Qualifications:

● Registered Nurse (RN) with a valid license

● Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or higher degree preferred

● Extensive experience in long-term care, geriatrics, or related healthcare settings

● Knowledge of long-term care regulations, guidelines and best practices

● Strong clinical skills and ability to assess and evaluate resident care needs

● Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills

● Ability to drive to various areas and travel up to 50% or more as needed

● Ability to work independently and as part of a team
