  • High School Diploma or GED (Required)
  • Associates Degree (Preferred)

Location:

  • Simpson General Hospital in Mendenhall, MS

Schedule:

  • As needed (Days/Nights/Weekends/Holidays)

Position Summary:

Responsible for admitting patients when they arrive to the facility. Ensure that all pertinent questions are asked and that all necessary documentation/paperwork is completed accurately. Process and receive payments on patient accounts. The incumbent must be willing to work any open shifts and remain flexible in regards to work schedule.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Welcomes visitors in person or on the telephone, answering inquires; relaying calls to patients or to the correct department; giving directions; referring inquires to appropriate departments.
  • Receiving and documenting payments on patient accounts completely and accurately.
  • Registering patients completely and accurately as they present to the department.
  • Maintains department operations by following policies and procedures; reporting needed changes.
  • Maintains a safe and clean working environment in compliance with healthcare procedures and regulations.
  • Adheres to infection-control protocols.
  • Adheres to all hospital and departmental policies and procedures.
  • Monitor and coordinate maintenance of equipment operation and inventory.
  • Check and maintain supplies inventory for the department.
  • Adapts and supports change in a positive and professional manner. Cooperates with peers and supports group decisions.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Physical Requirements:

The Admission Clerk must have the ability to move around freely, walk and sit for long periods of time; use stomach and lower back muscles to support the body for long periods without getting tired; use hands to handle, control, or feel objects, tools, or controls; bend or twist their body; understand the speech of another person and speak clearly so listeners can understand; and see details of objects that are less than a few feet away and at a distance.
