The Center for Autism Education is Hiring a Direct Support Professional (DSP) Near Saint Peters, MO

  • prepares the room/program at the beginning of the day, including picture schedules, data sheets, and other visual supports as needed.
  • utilizes basic behavior principles including visual supports, behavior maps, visual schedules, social stories, and augmentative communication.
  • provides assistants with toileting and personal hygiene with all consumers.
  • implements 1:1, to 1:4 instruction of curriculum/activities given by the QDDP as well as executes behavior plans as directed by Director of Day Services, Case Manager, or Behavior Specialist.
  • · interacts with consumer appropriately and initiates leisure activities throughout the day.
  • implements community-based outings as planned throughout each day.
  • supervises and maintains the safety of all consumers at all times including continuous supervision of assigned consumers.
  • records and dates (day/month/year) all data including behavior data and data for activities as directed by the QDDP.
  • performs tasks as directed by the QDDP and the Director of Day Service as necessary.
  • completes training as outlined in The Center for Autism Education policy book.
  • effectively completes SCM training and uses techniques taught to intervene with a student experiencing crisis.
  • effectively able to stoop, bend, lift up to 20 pounds, kneel, sit on the floor, walk a distance of up to one mile at a time, and run at a brisk pace in order to support a consumer who elopes.

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $19.00 - $21.20 per hour

Expected hours: No more than 32.5 per week
