This position is FLSA Non-exempt (may accrue overtime). Excellent Benefits are provided to all Contract employees with assignments greater than, or equal to, 50% (0.50 FTE) and all eligible dependents. A temporary probationary period will apply to the employee entering this assignment. Hours are Monday through Friday 6:30 a.m.-3:00 p.m. Selected candidate must be willing to adjust work days/hours based on the department's needs.

  • Clean and prepare surfaces to be painted by use of sandpaper, steel wool, scrapers, or soap and water; sandblast surfaces. Remove graffiti from different surfaces.
  • Paint exterior and interior surfaces of buildings and structures with brush or spray gun.
  • Varnish, stain, shellac, or otherwise finish desks, doors, cabinets, moldings, and floors.
  • Mix color, oils, and other paint ingredients to match, blend, harmonize, and contrast with specified colors and consistencies on site and in spray booth.
  • Apply required number of coats of paints, enamels, varnishes, lacquers, or other protective products or treatments on glass, plaster, brick, stucco, cement, and wall board using brushes and spray guns.
  • Mark, measure, and hang wallpaper and apply special paint finishes and other applications.
  • Perform incidental duties, such as erect and remove scaffolds, wash walls, and clean work areas.
  • Coordinate and schedule with campus facilities for availability of rooms or offices to be painted.
  • Operate a district maintenance vehicle. Operate a variety of painting power equipment and hand tools.
  • Identify need for materials, supplies, and equipment; log all materials used in completing work. Handle and dispose of hazardous substances.
  • Inspect equipment, buildings, streets, parking lots, and other structures in need of paint.
  • Assist in estimating time, materials, and costs involved; maintain records and reports of material, labor, and time costs.
  • Perform related duties as assigned.
Foreign Degree: Applicants with foreign degrees from colleges or universities outside of the United States must have their coursework evaluated by a professional association that is a member of the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (NACES) or Academic Credentials Evaluation Institute, INC.(ACEI). Tentative Timeline (Subject to Amendments) Conditions of Employment: SELECTED CANDIDATE IS REQUIRED TO COMPLETE THE FOLLOWING PRIOR TO EMPLOYMENT:
  • Submit "official" college transcripts as stated on application (even if a degree is not a requirement for this position);
  • Provide a Certificate of Tuberculosis Exam for initial appointment (Note: The certificate must be renewed every 4 years as a condition of continuing employment);
  • Have fingerprints taken by a Live Scan computer at the District's expense (Clearance must be received prior to first day of employment);
  • Present original documents for proof of eligibility to work in the United States as required by the I9 Employment Eligibility Verification form; AND
  • Attend a new hire processing appointment in People, Culture, and Technology Services located at the District Administrative Offices.
EMPLOYMENT AFTER RETIREMENT
