HVAC & Plumbing Engineering & Detailing Director- San Jose, CA

Our client , a leading engineering firm, is seeking a highly experienced and results-oriented HVAC & Plumbing Engineering Design Manager to join their growing team in San Jose, CA.

Key Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering and Engineer in Training (EIT) certification required.
• Minimum 10 years of combined experience in:
• HVAC and Plumbing Engineering and Design for commercial and/or industrial projects (stronger emphasis on HVAC)
• Building relationships with construction developers, architects, engineers, contractors, and subcontractors/vendors.
• Project team collaboration, presentations, and assessments for new construction, renovations, and existing buildings.
• Preparing and presenting technical reports and recommendations.
• Participating in conceptual design sessions and preparing preliminary design layouts.
• Overseeing code compliance and maintaining internal company standards.
• Proven leadership experience (minimum 5 years) managing and mentoring a team of design engineers, drafters, and interns.
• 5 years of experience with the following software:
• Autodesk Revit (including Controls, Sustainability, and Performance Contracting)
• Tres Software (or competitor for load calculations)
• AutoCAD
• Strong understanding of HVAC and plumbing systems, including cost-effective design principles.
• Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
• Collaborative and team-oriented approach.
• Proactive problem-solving and decision-making skills.

Nice to Haves:

• LEED Certification a plus.
• Experience providing technical leadership for high-performance, low-energy design solutions.
• Experience participating in formal engineering training and on-the-job mentoring.
• Experience supporting estimating efforts and cost analysis.
• Experience overseeing detailing for cost-effective system layout.
• Experience leading recruitment efforts.

Compensation & Benefits:

• Competitive salary range: $275,000 - $300,000 annually.
