POSITION SUMMARY:

Under general supervision, performs a variety of routine task associated with the installation, maintenance and repair of production machinery. Also when needed will be responsible for the timely, efficient movement of material ensuring the stated material is readily available by the end-user in order that the manufacturing process continues without interruption.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Activities and duties will vary depending upon functional areas assigned; activities may include but are not limited to:

1. Performs set up, inspection, testing, monitoring, preventative maintenance, and repairs on production machines, mechanical equipment, etc

2. Assist with inspections and follow up tasks pertaining to related local, state and federal codes including sprinkler system, fire extinguishers, alarms, storm water, etc

3. Completes and maintains related documentation as required including maintenance logs, etc

4. Refers to equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance and service

5. Picks materials from storage and/or staging area and moves to the loading or production area

6. Moves materials to and from storage, staging and/or production areas and/or within departments

7. Packs and/or wraps material, boxes, pallets, etc. and stages for transport to shipping department

8. Loads material in or onto equipment; assists operator if machine becomes jammed or needs minor adjustments

9. Maintains a clean and orderly workplace

10. Reviews production schedule to determine movement of material to work stations.

11. Delivers material to work stations/department in the most timely, efficient manner possible

12. Ensures that machine operators and product lines have necessary materials readily available at/for point of use with no equipment downtime (waiting for material).

13. Reviews min/max levels and kanbans daily; pulls Kanban cards or visual cues for material replenishment

14. Performs other job duties as assigned

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

High School Diploma or equivalent preferred

1. Minimum 2 years full time related job experience preferred including set up, troubleshooting, repairs and preventative maintenance of electrical and mechanical systems or 1 year related experience plus successful completion of related trade school, certificate or verifiable apprenticeship Minimum six months working in warehouse, shipping or manufacturing preferred

Demonstrated knowledge of proper methods and principles related to the skilled trades of mechanical maintenance including proper use of tools and equipment

Basic math skills and ability to perform basic math calculations (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division)

Must be able to operate a variety of material handling equipment specific to department including pallet jack, fork lift, etc.

Good communication skills and ability to work well with others

Ability to move (push/pull) material weighing up to 150 lbs. with the aid of a roll-jack

Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

Must be able to work on feet all day for the entire shift

Proficiency in reading and writing English preferred

Basic computer skills (email, Windows, etc.) preferred
